Smells Weird...AND WE LOVE IT!
It does smell a bit odd....like pine tar. I'm very sensitive to scents and allergic to almost every perfume. I am actually okay with this smell. No headache or rash for me but everyone is different. The smell does not linger much on your skin. I am one of those people that does not really go nose-blind and I'm often teased for having a super nose. I honestly don't think the scent sticks to skin very much. It's very subtle after the shower. However, my bathroom smells very strongly of the soap all of the time.I have very sensitive skin and I love the soap! My skin feels super clean but not tight or dry. My husband uses the soap on his body and hair. His hair looks great! My husband loves the soap too.I shower a lot. I need to feel clean to feel good. I like to shower at night but I generally feel like I need another shower in the morning. With this soap, I still feel fresh after a full-nights sleep.Pros:-great clean feeling-use on body and hair-smell does not linger on skin-the clean feeling lasts a very long timeCons:-strong smell-smell does linger in the shower (but not on skin)-a bit expensive (but probably worth it)Conclusion: We will buy this soap again.

Used as shampoo bar. Great product.
My boyfriend loved some other brand’s pine tar soap he got awhile back, so I decided to give this a try as it came recommended on google.Scent was not my favorite, but it does remind me of nature. Besides, the price and benefits of the soap are amazing.Benefits include hair growth and removing dandruff and other things as well. I used it in my hair and avoided the rest of my body, because hey I’m a woman and don’t want to risk it.(Side note: I have intentions of one day using shampoo bars and avoiding unnecessary plastic that comes with shampoos)and unfortunately I do have a spot on my head I am missing hair in .. plus my scalp can get flaky. My scalp after washing feels great. I mean, I need conditioner (as always) but it makes my scalp feel so clean and my hair feels more thicker.Overall, I recommend this product. Fingers crossed on hair growth.

Cure For Scalp Issues
I've struggled with scalp issues for about two years. Sores, scabs and bleeding too nasty to discuss on Amazon. I tried shampoos, salves, steroids, antibiotics, vinegar, and spent lots of money seeing doctors and dermatologists. I tried this soap as a desperate effort and it worked, after a couple of applications my symptoms were reduced. After about a week my scalp had healed and it was a massive relief. The T-Gel shampoo would help with symptoms, but never really cured anything. I use this soap for face and beard and all over. The smell is only as it comes out of the box, it does not have a bad odor when you use it or when you are done bathing. On the other hand, the T-Gel smell would stick with me all day and I was hesitant to use it when I would be around people. A brand new bar of this Pine Tar Soap comes out of the box with a definite odor. After using it, the smell fades. How it worked for me: My hair is cut short (#1 guard) in an effort to help with scalp issues. I lathered up the soap in my hands and rubbed it on my scalp, then allowed the soap to sit on the scalp for about 10 minutes before showering. I use the pine tar soap all over in the shower and my skin is happier for it. Recently, while traveling, I stopped using the soap and in about a week some symptoms returned, but nothing as severe as prior. One use of the soap and I was back on track.I cut my hair off for the holidays and have a shiny, healthy scalp. I never anticipated the bald look and bushy beard to be my future, but it feels so good to have a healthy scalp. I wore a hat for so long to hide the scabs and sores, now I am healthy and happy about it. Many thanks to the folks at Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. My scalp is healthy, thank you, thank you, thank you!

I love it, but it's not for everyone
A short time ago I decided to try some of the more natural soaps out there that have a woodsy smell for use during the snowy winters. This is - but is not - exactly that. I love the natural pine tar smell, but it's not going to be confused with pine any time soon. If you're a Scotch drinker, it smells exactly like a smokey, peated Scotch like Ardbeg 10. Kind of like a mossy take on smoked ham. But I still really love the smell. That being said, obviously that's not a smell that everyone will love. And at about $1.15-$1.65/ounce, it's going to be a little pricier and hard to find at your local than most bar soaps.Because it's going to cater to a more particular taste, I can't just give this a blanket recommend, but I CAN write that I love it and have had no weirdness regarding skin, etc., as a result of using it. I encourage people to try it. If you have a Whole Foods, they usually sell it. And the scent is strong enough that you'll get plenty of a whiff through the box. At that point, just give yourself a chance for the aroma to settle in before you decide to put it back on the shelf.

The Best Soap
This soap is great for sensitive skin and irritation. I use it all the time and it leaves my skin soft and moisturized. I even use it for shampoo sometimes and it leaves my hair shiny and soft. This is the best, most reasonabe brand I have found.

Probably works but I couldn’t get past the smell
I got this because my OBGYN suggested it for itching (my belly and hands) during pregnancy. I’m not sure if it helped my itching but it definitely has a strong smell! It is so strong, I could smell it when I picked up the box it came in!

Good stuff
Have been using this for years to combat dandruff, dermatitis and occasional b.o. Couldn't survive without it! It leaves my skin and hair super clean and fresh.Tip for best results: let it sit on your skin or hair for a while (half hour for face, and atleast 2 hours on hair, when possible). Your skin will be super smooth, scalp super clean, hair super moisturized. Just amazing!Although it smells of burnt wood.. it does a great job of neutralizing b.o. and the burnt smell fades pretty quickly so it's worth it when you're trying to combat the funk but doent want to kill yourself with unnatural chemicals in the process.

Stinks but it works!
Bought this to treat jock itch. Creams didn't help so I thought I'd try this. Best thing I ever did.The reviews saying that it stinks are absolutely right, and if you're buying it because you think you're getting a pine scent, buy something else. It smells like a wet campfire when you use it, although the smell quickly subsides. However, if you have any kind of skin issue, including psoriasis, this will do the job without the creams and prescriptions. My jock itch was gone within a week. Will definitely buy again. Suggestion: get a plastic soap dish with a lid to keep it in to limit the smell after use.
