When umpiring I don't like the hockey style mask, as I get hot on warmer days. This mask is sturdy, very lightweight, and has no line of sight issues. If you want this to be a primary mask, go for it. If you're looking for a backup mask on warm days, get it.

Our local school offers an Officiating/Umpiring class, one of the only in the country. Finished the class and son's first job was coming up. We found a chest protector and leg-protectors at a local Play It Again Sports. Bought Skechers steel-toe shoes and separate metatarsal protectors here on Amazon ($45), as well as, the umpire's shirt. Pants were $2 at Goodwill. Now, he needed a mask. We were able to try four different umpire masks at local stores. They were either uncomfortable, heavy or both. This mask is lightweight, comfortable and did not move around or block vision. Lowest price of any we tried, too. Perfect.

New umpire and bought this mask. Lightweight and took a hit off mask. Did job and barely did a thing. Continued the game with no issues

I umpire High School and Youth fastpitch softball. Have done about five games since I got the mask, but have yet to "take one" in the mask. I love that it is so much lighter than my 25 yr. old mask. Took one star away for fit. I would like the chin pad to be a little lower on the chin. Also, I wear glasses and worry that "taking one" off the top bar will pull the mask up over my face and mess with my glasses. Will have to wait and see.

I started umpiring little League this past season after a 35 year hiatus ( I know ). Needed to get new equipment. The Champion mask is high grade steel and a classic mask. I did 7 games this season after getting the mask and visibility and comfort are a 10. A couple of foul ball off the mask and another box checked. If you are a coach or volunteer umpire you need this mask. A good clicker and a plate brush would also be useful. A very good value in my mind

The mask is a good light mask, good though JV high school level.

Very light weight mask, but solid. The padding is fantastic. Took some balls to the head this past season, but really the mask worked as it should. Think this is great value for the money. The light weight feature was fantastic during those long double headers in the sun!

Bought this for my son to umpire baseball, he loves it. It's super light and has good visibility

Used this for a couple games so far and can't say enough about how much I like it. Great mask for the price, very lightweight and easy to adjust. Haven't taken one off the mask yet but am confident it will handle significant impact no problem (I ump senior women's softball). I did buy a separate throat protector as well but likely don't need it as the bottom of the mask extends more than I thought it would. Highly recommend.
