A wild ride you won't want to miss!!
5th Passenger is a must see for any sci-fi fan. First off, the cast is amazing. There's Marina Sirtin, Tim Russ, Doug Jones and several others from the Star Trek series and Eve Miller (Morgan Lariah) shines in the star role. The story has all the hallmarks of a great sci-fi including amazing sets, suspense, horror, the ocassional one liner and a twist. So strap in with this crew aboard their space pod, this is one wild ride you won't want to miss!!

Middle school film project.
You know how some movies are so bad that they eventually become a cult classic ? Think: Night of The Living Dead, the original...but no, this doesn't even come close. Maybe, Plan 9 from Outer Space, would be a better comparison...but even that became a cult classic. This won't.The problem isn't in the plot, and for me it wasn't even in the budget friendly set design, or poorly executed"special effects". Those things are forgivable errors, in a low budget endeavor. If a story is good, and the script, directing and acting are sharp and crisp....technical issues really don't matter. What is absolutely UNFORGIVABLE, is the LAZY, sophomoric, CLICHED , stilted script, with memorable lines like" don't throw that in my face" . ANYONE and I mean ANYONE, could have given this script the once over, and made massive improvements. The films second notable failing is , the "ACTING". FIrst of all, Ms Laria, our leading lady, should, in the future avoid two things....ACTING and WRITING. To describe her attempt at acting as WOODEN, stiff, and inept, barely provides an accurate description of her amateur effort. What was shocking, was that even VETERAN ACTORS, fell into the abyss on this one. BUT, not to be outdone in the abysmal failure category, is the director....this is another one who needs a new line of work. What really bothers me most, is the fact that this film had tremendous potential. The concept was really GOOD. If someone working on this actually cared, actually proof read, actually put an EFFORT into bringing this into fruition, it could have been a great independent film.Unfortunately a great idea fell into the hands of truly incompetent people, who had no experience, and even less talent.

A mixed bag
First thing: How on earth did Tuvok and Troi get themselves attached to this film?So...it's ok. The special effects were clearly done on a budget in parts. The acting was pretty...interesting...in parts. Some actors good, some not so much. The story is good, though from the first attack one could clearly deduce what was going on, so the twist wasn't so much of a twist.Interesting premise on the non-citizen thing. That was a fun race reversal. One is slightly concerned for the safety of the characters at the very end.Overall, Meh.

Supported This but not impressed
Was a great idea, big names of Trek too. Backed this project for a while too. Story was neat, even the way it was presented, or the style of it was neat too. The effects were sad, like very VERY sad. They were good in cgi only scenes, it just seems anything that involved a real person wasn't that great as they really stood out from the rest of the scene.I couldnt deal with Tim Russ being a nasty mofo, it just didnt seem right. Marina seemed to portray her character as it was similar to the TNG one we may remember. Good work on putting this together tho. Armin was really good, he made his character, the character, not Him(Quark). Now I looked and remembered Quark, but it wasnt overwhelming. Manu was so questionable, i couldn't focus on him, his role here was soo... boring. Kinda in the way and forgettable. The rest, i dunno.Nice to see smaller scifi stuff, often they are good, this one wasn't terrible as it did have a good story and flow... but poor acting may have hurt it. The Poor Acting also may be partially due to us knowing the actors and expecting the same characters we know them for not what they do now. I wish there was more of a beginning, to give a better understanding of the world they come from and where they are going. That seems more interesting than what this boiled down to. Maybe a few mini episodes to grow on this?Im glad I didn't buy this outright, but im happy to see it on prime to stream. Quite a gamble.

If You Do Not Want To Spoil, Do Not Read
I wanted to be on board with this film. I really did. However there were painful mistakes made. The overarching theme of this movie is that something or someone is the cause behind the main protagonist being the only survivor. There were references to earth, toxic air and volcanoes erupting. So much more could have been done with that as a backdrop, but it was mentioned then never really explained. The "citizen" and "noncitizen" were mentioned but were never explained either. After the first 45 minutes, I started screaming because the entire film was apparently just flashbacks of the main character and what she saw.I kept watching because I figured that something new would happen, right? But then... the reason behind my two star rating.I do not appreciate how mental illness was demonized in this movie. Having schizophrenia does not automatically make people mindless killing machines. It's bad enough people treat it as "funny" or "trendy" to pretend to have mental illness. You have to go make a movie that only feeds into the sterotypes...This movie could have taken the "error" in her memory in another direction entirely. But once again: "It's all cos SHE BE CRAZY!" was pulled out of a little top hat along with feathers and balloons. And just when the movie was coming to an end, we got yet another reminder: "SHE MENTALLY ILL, YO!" which left a particularly sour taste in my mouth.I have never written a review this long before. At least I don't think so. Then again, I've never seen such a disappointing film before either.

Scifi Thriller with a Twist
Wow! This was a great surprise for someone whom isn't a #Scifi Fan! Great Sets, Story, Directing and Production! I was not expecting the twist at the end! So ingenious! Great to see all the #Trekkies together again with Doug Jones whose feature #Intheshapeofwater won some #Oscars !
