This is just what it appears to be -- two eSata female panel-mount connectors mounted to a slot size endplate. I needed just the connectors themselves. They seem to be well made and do the job.

Slotted and plugged right into a decade old HP small form factor desktop. Transfers data at roughly 3 times the rate I was getting from USB 2.0.

This item works fine and inexpensive. BUT, the cables are only about 1 ft. long.Depends on your MB's layout and the position of the empty slot on your case, 1ft may or may not be TOO SHORT! You need to consider how to route and measure the length and the stiffness of the cable before you buy. In my case, it was barely enough. Had the SATA connectors was on the side like my other MB, the cable will fall short and I have to return it. The cable should be at least 50% longer if not double it.

High quality bracket and connectors. The SATA cables are a bit short and just barely made it to the SATA ports on an ASUS motherboard. On an ASUS board, the SATA ports are located farthest from the back of the desktop case which is worst case. Even with that, the cables were still long enough to just reach the port connectors, so this worked out well. I've attached a 6 foot ESATA cable to the computer and been able to run an external CD/DVD drive at top speed with no problems or hickups. Works great. BobM

The functionality of this product is fine. I just want to let others to know that maybe at one time there was a low profile half height mounting bracket included but not as of this year (2020). I had to modify an existing bracket to accommodate my installation. I can not lay any blame on the Vendor because there was no mention of two brackets nor was it mentioned that it came with a half height bracket at all. Secondly, some one had commented that the cable was 12 inches long. It's actually 9.750. This is important when fitting this into a SFF (small form factor) machine. The less I need to cram into the machine the better. Hobbyist need this info when planning for any installation.

Works as expected. Glad I got the longer 18" cable so I could run cable to motherboard SATA port from bottom and back of motherboard to avoid the red cable running on top of motherboard. Knocked off 1 star only due to red color. With glass cases becoming the norm a black cable would be more of a neutral color, at least in my case. Functionality is perfect, allows easy quick swapping of unlimited SATA drives paired with an external drive-bay with an eSATA port. Sure you can hot-swap with USB3 but I rather use eSATA.

the problem is that the eSATA end that's on the bracket isn't actually shaped properly so when you try to put an eSATA cable in it doesn't really fit right, it's very loose. I've been using a saddle for years so I know exactly what in east side of Port of supposed to look like and this just isn't it. It's a shame. I really wanted to like these but they barely function oh, actually I can't say I would even trust them because the slightest movement of the cable and you're probably going to lose connection and I'm not even willing to short out my drive testing it. Just take my word for it and avoid these and look for something else. I tried to find some tech support for this but there's nobody to talk to that I can find.

The 1Ft Sata to Esata plate did work with my external Esata drive. But I didn't read carefully enough to note the "low profile" aspect of the plate. Yes, it is in CAPITAL LETTERS. Sigh. That meant it did not fit properly in my new desktop PC. So, I encourage buyers to be sure that "low profile" works for them--it means the plate is shorter than in any PC I have. I get the dumb bunny award for that--but I don't want you to be my company at the Darwin Awards ceremony!Secondly, 1 Ft of cable length would have been adequate (barely) for my application. But, measuring the product, it is 1 Ft from the tip of the cable to the outside of the plate. Since my cable had to do a u-turn (the internal sata connectors are pointed away from the back of the case), it was a "stretch" to install this plate. Stretching is not good for cables! I'd advise the potential buyer to consider that this is a 11" inch cable with connectors on the end for purposes of determining fit.In the end, I took this critter out, and bought the 2 FT Sata To Esata Transition Cable with Mounting Bracket from Tripp-Lite that Amazon also sells. The full height plate and the 2Ft cable turned out to be a better match for me.

Good product which performs as described.What would make it a 5-star product?*Rounded black cables which are sleeved together for the middle 2/3rds of cable length (so only separating at each other)*Longer cable length, another 25-50mm would have given me better cabling routing options
