Carhartt Men's Loose Fit Firm Duck Double-Front Utility Work Pant

The best value motorcycling pants I've ever bought. **And 4 or 5 years later, still are.
I wrote the attached review a few years ago now when I first started wearing carhartts jeans on my motorbike. They quickly became the only brand of jeans I wear on the bike and still are. I particularly like being able to order my exact size, particularly the leg length. I'm a shade over 6' tall, and having heavyweight canvas jeans with 36" legs makes sure there's plenty of material bunched over the tops of my boots to block the wind. They can get a little warm at rest stops on 80+ degree days, on the other hand they protect your legs better when you're back on the road in full sun.I have a several pairs of these dungarees, a couple common-or-garden, a pair of flannel-lined for colder days so I don't have to bother with longjohns/thermals, a pair 2" oversized waist for concealed carry or wearing over thick thermals/sweat pants/Levi's, and the faded old pair with the front knee panel worn through that are still plenty good enough for yardwork. These things last a long time. One last thing - if you wash them inside out, the brass rivets won't smack around the inside of the washer and drier drums, and your vintage t-shirts, quite so hard; and if you dry them on 'Low', you'll have a better chance of fastening them the next time you put them on.***Original review:I heard about Carhartt work pants as good bike pants over a year ago, and when my last pair of riding jeans wore out, I finally decided to risk $35 to find out. They were right. I've been riding bikes for 35 years, mostly in Lees and Levi's boot cuts, and a decade ago I discovered kevlar lined 'Draggin' Jeans', which are soft, comfortable and great peace of mind for well over a hundred bucks. These Carhartt double fronted dungarees may not protect my ass quite as much as kevlar, but they're as hard as nails and at around forty dollars including tax and freight, I don't need to look any more. These pants are not far short of wire mesh straight out of the box. I washed mine four times on the long cycle, warm, with extra suds before giving them two rinses and throwing three fabric softener sheets in the tumble dryer with them. After more than 2,000 miles on the bike, lots of normal everyday wear and numerous more washes, these pants have not so much attained the soft like-a-deerskin-glove feel that favorite denim jeans do - it feels more as if it's shaping itself to my body....the double front keeps your legs warm from the pocket line to halfway down your shin, where your 8" boots take over. They are not going to get you home dry through a thunderstorm, but they are more rain resistant than denim and they're just fine in light showers or on wet roads. These pants sit most comfortably with the belt line at navel level, and they do it without wedging you. This makes a big difference to how cold your back gets after the first 50 miles. I usually take a 36x34, but got these in a 36x36, which are perfect on a bike - the extra 2" stops them riding up past ankle height, even with feet on highway pegs at 70mph, there's less wind whistling up the canyon, and that helps keep you a lot warmer than those hip hugging waders...now that I'm used to them, I wear these pants all day, everyday, and I don't have to worry about getting changed into something more robust if I see a job that needs doing around the house, garden or garage.I bought one pair to try. After a month and a thousand miles on the bike, I bought another black pair, and a 'Carhartt Brown' (that weird mustardy beige color) pair for gardening, hunting and camping. The pockets are roomy, and I fit my glasses case in the right hand tool pocket, cell phone in the left, and can hang a 4x D-cell torch through the hammer loop. I have a custom made 2" wide leather belt which fits the loops, which it doesn't on 'normal' denim jeans. Because these sit at the waist, I can cinch them up and hang my Buck, Leatherman and a folding tool off it, on top of all the other aforementioned bits and pieces, plus wallet and loose change, all without risking walking out of my trousers. If superheroes wore jeans, this is what they'd wear. They look pretty reasonable for a burger & beer night out, but after a few miles you might want to pull out the designer labels if you're going out to a real restaurant.I'll be interested to see how long these things last. I'm thinking 'a while'.

Very durable
I do alot of welding and these pants have been excellent. Most jeans would have had large holes or caught fire by now but these stand strong. Very comfortable fit despite its extra layers on the front. Pockets are also strong as expected and plentiful.

Great Quality
These work pants are excellent quality, and true to size. Don't make my mistake, and listen to some of the reviews that claim the length shrunk two inches after drying. I wear a 38x32 but got a 38x34 and have washed them multiple times drying them on high each time. The waist got a little snug but loosened after I start workin in them. The length is never going to shrink enough to fit, getting them altered tomorrow.Just order your size, and you will not be disappointed.

Yeah, they run small.
As many others have stated, these DO run a bit small in the waist, very similar to how dickies run in sizing. They also run a bit longer in the inseam, so keep that in mind. You'd probably do okay at going one size up from your regular blue jeans size (think levis). I'm a skinny guy at 5'11" 150 lbs, I have worn 32x30 in blue jeans since high school, I wear a 33x30 in dickies 874s and I ordered a 34x30 in these Carhartt b01s. They're a bit loose in the waist but I'm certain that'll go away once I run them through the wash (they're 100% cotton so expect some shrinkage) you should also use that as another reason to size up, so that they don't shrink and become unwearable! I definitely could have gotten away with a 33x30 but I was very concerned about them shrinking in the waist (an issue I never had with dickies since they're made of polyester) and I'm glad I made that choice. Aside from the sizing, they are well made, and well worth the money I spent on them. I needed new pants for work since I'm constantly blowing out the knees on my blue jeans (I work maintenance at a university so I'm repairing washing machines a lot of the time) and these fit the bill. They're tough and I'll bet I'll have a hard time getting through the double knee construction. I only wish they were an actual 30" inseam, so that I didn't have to roll the cuffs up on them, but that's no big deal. All in all, they do run small, so order a size or two up from your usual blue jean size.*UPDATE: 4/19/21* -I ordered another pair in black in a size 33x30, they fit much better around the waist than the 34s. If you're a slimmer guy and you're unsure of what size to get, maybe try going one size up vs. 2 full sizes. Going one size up from a 32 to a 33 seemed to fit me better. Just wanted to make that distinction.

Durable and comfortable pants.
I've been wearing these for over 20 years for tree work. I've owned at least 8 pair in that time. They shrink a bit, so I buy them with the waist one inch larger than usual. I buy a 34 length. My old worn out pair is exactly 2 inches shorter than the new unwashed pair. In other pants I wear a 32x32 in these I wear a 33x34 due to shrinkage.Edit: I washed the new pair in hot water and the length is unchanged from new.

Tough!
I bought these for my son, who is a professional welder. They have lasted him 3 years now. He is rough on clothes. The double paneling on the front is great for the job he does. You can see from the photo that he's ripped the pants. Under the rip, you can see some tan fabric, that is because only the top panel was ripped. He's had multin metal fall on to his pants, and these pants prevented him from being burned. They are 100% cotton, which is perfect for welders, and the leg is wide enough to fit over heavy-duty welders boots. My son is 6'1" and 170 to 175. I ordered size 34x34.Not only are they tough and can hold up, but they just might save you from injury.

Great for work
Well worth the money, great quality, fit well and have sufficient storage for work. They’re also made of tough canvas so they’re realistically not going to tear even from extreme use over a long period.

Preisleistung stimmt
