Coffy [Blu-ray]

A classic movie from the 70’s with a classic actress. Pam Greer was the Black Shero of her day. As a young black girl it was awesome to see black women in such roles…because you just didn’t see them. To have this classic film from the blaxploitation era of films added to my collect is a boon!

Her best exploitation film by far!

This is a very good movie! It is 'R' rated, so not a family viewing. The female actress is phenomenal, the story is solid, the acting & drama are top notch, great 1970s scenery. Recommend.

The plot here is the same as Foxy Brown, Sheba Baby, and others. It’s the same plot as all the you-messed-with-the-wrong-person action films. A loved one is murdered by evildoers, the hero is out for vengeance, law enforcement either fails or is involved, the hero wipes out some baddies, gets captured by baddies, gets the “Before I kill you, Mr. Bond” speech, escapes, and kills the remaining baddies. The hero’s lover is either the first victim of the baddies or is secretly in league with them and, therefore, must die. Either way, the hero must be a solitary figure at the end. Oh, and the hero must expose their bare torso at some point or multiple points. The difference here is that the hero is a woman – Pam Grier, during the far more progressive and sexually positive era of the ‘70s. And her bare torso is a monument to bare female torsos. There has never been a finer one in all of cinema history. The only difference between Pam Grier's action movies and today’s is a mandatory catfight halfway through.

I like the 16:9 video.I like the action and violence. I like the shooting. I like the punching and kicking.I like the car scenes.

Again another great example of the 1970s Grindhouse style exploitation film. Its obvious Pam Grier was the queen of this style movie. Physically she is stunning. Every line she speaks is so retro. If you are not a fan of this genre, looking for a serious plot and deep moral lesson, this movie is not for you. If you want to just set back and enjoy a taste of the 70s, let the groovy good times roll. A small note: If you like this Pam Grier classic please check out Foxy Brown.

I had a copy of this movie before, and I think this newer copy was even better than the first I had. Campy movie, but well acted, and has a great lookback of hippie lingo as well! Great choice for a good old fashioned popcorn watch.

This movie is nothing special, its somewhat of a revenge movie that is kind of far fetched. I will tell you I did like Pam Bride's acting.

Described as one of the greatest Blaxploitation movies ever and I can see why, this is a great movie from start to finish, an action packed story-line full of sex and nudity and brutal executions at the hands of the beautiful Pam Grier, this is one girl who knows revenge, after her little sister becomes ill because of drug dealers and gangsters Coffy decides the law is not good enough at their job and decides to dish out her own justice, the movie has its violent moments with plenty of cool gun play, there's lashings of nudity, and a fantastic cast all the way, Pam Grier of course back in the 70's was smoking hot and plays one mean woman, Sid Haig makes a younger starring role too as usual playing a cool gangster, this is a very iconic movie that's well paced out with an awesome soundtrack too, this is the movie Pam did before Foxy Brown but personally I think this is a better movie, really worth checking out now especially as Arrow films have released such an awesome Blu-ray.Blu-ray picture quality looks fantastic in HDFeatures include a commentary, interviews, trailers and more,You get a nice booklet with 10-pages of text, reversible sleeve with original 70's art.Region B only, 90-mins, 1973
