Aromatherapy: A Practical Approach

This is an excellent resource book for any learner studying for a Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Aromatherapy. It provides valuable information on a range of issues which underpin Aromatherapy e.g. how Aromatherapy works, and the use of Aromatherapy as Holistic Medicine. For those studying Level 4, the chapters on Botany and the Production of Essential Oils, the Provenance of Essential Oils and the Chemistry of Essential Oils are particularly helpful. The book also provides valuable information about a range of oils. Even though the entire range of Level 3 and Level 4 oils are not covered, several are! For practising Aromatherapists, this book also provides interesting and useful information to keep referring back to. Vicki Pitman has created an informative and interesting resource using her many years of experience. Highly recommended.

Attractive, comprehensive and accessible this is a useful book to add to an established aromatherapist's collection. It is also a valuable resource for the emerging practitioner and student. The author provides an holistic client/recipient based approach focusing on the needs and well-being of the individual. The pages have an attractive layout which invites both "dipping in" for snippets of information and longer reading for more formal study and knowledge development. Progress check text boxes facilitate self testing, good practice text boxes inform professional practice and behaviour and there are useful prompts from the "remember" text boxes. Learning objectives are clearly outlined at the beginning of chapters. The history section of the essential oil profiles is interesting and informative, reflecting the author's extensive knowledge as an aromatherapist, medical herbalist and historian. The inclusion of a variety of approaches to health and well-being adds interest to a valuable resource.

This is a wonderful book. I received the second edition (2019) and it the most comprehensive guide needed for the Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy.

This book was a great read, extensive information on oils, I am already a herbalist, but I learned a lot of new information from this about plants, essential oils and uses. Definitely to be recommended.
