Howard Restor-A-Finish, 8 Fl oz, Mahogany

Howard Products Restor-A-Finish is absolutely amazing and worked far better than I expected for restoring older wood surfaces. This product brought new life back to worn furniture, trim, and wood finishes without needing complete sanding or refinishing. I was honestly impressed by how quickly it improved scratches, faded areas, water marks, and dull spots while still preserving the original beauty and character of the wood. The finish looked richer, cleaner, and much more refreshed after just one application. One of the best things about this product is how easy it is to use. It applies smoothly, blends well into existing finishes, and delivers professional-looking results with very little effort. It’s perfect for restoring older furniture pieces, cabinets, antiques, and woodwork that have started showing signs of age and wear. The color match worked very well, and the wood retained its natural appearance rather than looking overly glossy or artificially coated. It helped revive the warmth and depth of the wood beautifully. This product saved me from needing a much larger refinishing project and made several pieces look dramatically better in a short amount of time. It doesn't 'refinish' but it provides an amazing change from ugly scratched to gorgeous finish. A cat had scratched a vintage secretary desk and I had put up with the eye-sore for years. I did not want to tackle refinishing myself or pay dearly for someone else to do it, so I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to try Howard Restor-A-Finish. I used very fine (0000) steel wool and gently rubbed as instructed. I was amazed how simple to use and the beautiful results. The mahogany color was perfect!

We were selling a 6-year old home that had several scuffs and worn stain on the treads of our oak stairs, despite regular cleaning (family of 5 plus dogs, a cat, visitors galore, etc. take a toll on wood). I was anticipating a full sand and re-stain effort, until I found this item here during my search for stains. Im not usually one for short cuts, but I figured, what could this hurt? Wow. One evening before taking the family out to dinner, I applied this easy to use product to each of my stair treads. Immediately I could see an improvement in the evenness of the stain color. When I returned from dinner the stairs looked like 3 or 4 years of wear were turned back. The color 90%+ held up for 2 months, including brutal traffic from showings and moving which brought back the style we needed to sell. I’d imagine this would last several months with little wear appearance under normal circumstances. Obviously sanding and staining is the ideal way to remove scratches and worn stain to a new-product look. But if you need a quick fix that holds up well for the interim (and you can have a window open for an hour or two to vent the strong scent), this is incredible.

This is one of the greatest products ever for bringing life back to dull old furniture. I finish the process with Howards feed and wax. Don't have to do anything to my furniture for about a year but dust. Love this stuff. I gave it a 4star rating because my can arrived dented. Outside package showed no damage.

I’m pretty sure happy with the results. I think it will need to be redone but it looks a lot better than it did. My table and chairs were in need of a little refresh. I still need to do the new pads for the chairs but overall they are acceptable for the new house.

In the 1970's, a co-worker of mine had a side-gig of buying old radios and phonographs, restoring them for resale. One thing I immediately noticed was how fast he took an old dusty barn-stored dried out "junker" and transformed it into a centerpiece decor that was the talk of all who would see it. I asked him, how did you do it so quickly?. He whispered to me a secret.... "Howards Restore-A-Finish"... No stripping, no sanding, just wipe it on. He would also use a spray can of Urethane as the final coating. My first impression was that this guy just cuts corners, not a real craftsman... Wrong. The results were long lasting. And, ever since, I've been using it with the same amazing effect. 10 stars, there's no way I could over emphasize my approval of this product. I trusted it so much that I used it to revitalize my Grandfathers Martin Mandolin that was built in 1924, which is a family heirloom that is irreplaceable. Same great results and it protects the wood from drying and cracking. Not whispering, shouting: BUY IT!

I bought this after I was impressed by several views and videos. Restor-A-Finish did not live up to the hype for me. The product has a strong odor as expected so use in a well-ventilated area. The finish went on smooth and dried quickly. The container is on the small side but it got good coverage; Good value for the money if it worked better. Product was clean and did not leak in transport. Durability is not a factor since there was little visible difference after three applications.

This is a great product. We recently moved and between moving and bringing back some items that were in storage, our early 20th century wood pieces looked terrible. They are all either mahogany or cherry, so I bought this in the mahogany color. One polish with this and everything looks so much better! Small scratches disappeared, beat up leather tops much improved, and even the most damaged piece, while still not perfect, is much better. I intend to let it sit awhile before trying it again on that piece. One bit of warning. It is very liquid. Do not try pouring it onto a cloth over your carpeting, or you will undoubtedly have a much bigger mess to fix!
