Hassleback Potato Guide
I think Amazon should separate the reviews for the corn stripper and the Hassleback Potato Guide. This review is about the Hassleback Potato Guide. This works very well. It is sturdy enough to get the job done. I do have a couple of tips. 1. Do not use a serrated (jagged edge) knife. That will cut into the plastic base. Use a sharp chef's knife. 2. Do not try to push the prongs into the potato with your hand. They are skinny, they have to be, and they will bend if you do it that way. I took a wooden spoon and tapped lightly on the handle, increasing force until the prongs started to sink in. You only need to have it in about 1/2 inch or so and then you can start cutting. When you are done cutting and need to pull the prongs out, hold the potato down with the flat of your knife to prevent the potato breaking. If the potato is bigger than the prongs are wide start at one end and move towards the other as you finish cutting the first end.

Love potatoes? You need to do some Hassleback's
This is a very easy way to do Hassleback potatoes. Set your tater in the tray, position the guide on the potato and cut perfect slices the proper distance deep. The way the potato sits in the tray allows the knife to cut just the right distance without going all the way thru. Put the taters on a non stick baking tray, with sides (its gonna get messy). Slather them up with your favorite butter mix, salt and pepper. Keep slathering them while baking and end up with the best side dish you can imagine.

Works like a charm!
After cutting my thumb while slicing a potato, I decided to try this little gizmo - and it works! Very simple plate that holds the potato, plus the slicing guide you stick into the potato. First time I used it, I found it a bit difficult, but that's because I'm not coordinated. Next time, I had it down pat. Hasselback potato - wow, it is the best, considering all the seasonings, fillings you can use. This gadget makes it easier and faster to get the perfect potato. Definitely worth the purchase!

Metal bends
The metal bends too easily. Sometimes you may get awkward cuts if you not careful.

Makes slicing a potato for Hasselback potatoes a breeze
A great little device. Beats using two wooden spoons to do this (one on either side of the potato that prevents the knife from slicing all the way through). There is a ridge on the base that prevents this. And there is a guide that you push into the potato that will give you even slices. Very innovative, easy to clean, and the guide stores under the plate. If you are into Hasselback potatoes, this is the unit to get.

Great product
Worked out great! Easy to store- almost bought one of the other models that was big and bulky and at the last minute decided to try this one. If you make hasselback potatoes a lot you might want the other one. I was very happy with the function and quality of this style.

Great way to Hasselback your spuds
Inexpensive but reliable. A few caveats: * The "pin handle" isn't wide enough to cover an entire russet potato in a single application. I think that's to be expected for this tool, but it just means you pull it out and re-apply it to cover the remainder of the potato. * For any non-round potato, such as a russet or a sweet potato, the ends of the potato are elevated above the edge of the "pan", so you need to be careful in applying your slices there so you don't cut all the way through the potato. This is not a problem specific to this tool, but a general comment on "hasselbacking". It's well worth the cost, doesn't take up a lot of space, and you just need to be aware of inherent limitations. I'd buy it again.

I've always wanted to do hasselback potatoes and I did with this gadget. It is easy to use and the prongs part is tucked away underneath the base. Very neat.
