Multifunctional!
My original purchase was a gift for my daughter who is in training for an open water triathlon and was using a full body wetsuit during off season practice. Undressing on the beach, discreetly, can be quite a challenge and peeling off a wetsuit isn't easy even in a dressing room. When the Dorsal Surf Changing Poncho Towel arrived, I had a look-see. I was immediately impressed by its velour-like softness. Next, I was impressed by the quality of the terry cloth and the stitching. I had to have one of my own!SURFUSA shipped quickly and I received my poncho 3 days after my order via the postal service. Note: they got their money's worth out of that USPS flat rate padded envelope; thanks for the FREE shipping!I tried changing, in my livingroom, from street clothes into a swimsuit. First thing I learned was to pull my arms INTO the poncho before attempting the "switch-r-roo". Funny how obvious it is after the fact, but you will expose your fanny while hiking the hem up to your waist with your arms outside the poncho. After making the adjustment, changing clothes inside the poncho was a snap! I had plenty of elbow room, knee room and wiggle room.I'm a 5'5" woman & the hem falls 3.5" below my knees. I measured the shoulder seam to bottom hem @ 40". My hips measure 42" & the Dorsal Surf Changing Poncho Towel measure 68" around.I wear sweats around the house, but this is a great substitute I wear a nightgown to bed, but this is a great substitute. I wear a pareo at the pool, but this is a great substitute...okay, so it's not as sexy! I use a towel to dry off, but this is a great substitute. I used to change clothes in a cramped & smelly public restroom stall, but this is a great substitute. After two washings, there is no noticeable shrinkage. I do line dry it because I do not want to mess up the embroidered name. I have ruined other garments because of the difference in shrink between embroidery threads and fabric. The only very minor issue is that it really doesn't dry all that quickly, however, if changing that would mean changing any other properties of the poncho fabric, it wouldn't be worth it. Personally, I'm not a fan of 'hoodies' because the weight of the hood pulls the front up into my throat. I usually cut a hood into a collar. I'm not sure whether I will alter this wonderful product because I surely would not want to ruin the garment. Maybe I'll buy a few more in order to experiment with one of them.I have not been compensated in any way for this review.

Too small but well made.
I liked the product except it was way too small and short for a 6' 2" tall person. I could not change clothes without exposing my frank and beans. It was like changing inside of a sleeping bag so when I lifted the robe to change clothes my do dads were hanging out. I gave it a 5 because it is well made and would be a great product for a child or small woman. it is well made. I wish they made this product for grown-ups. Oh and if you give it a 5 star rating you get a FREE hat. Dorsal Or O'Neill Changing Robe
First I would like to say thank you to many that answered my questions here about the Dorsal surf changing towel as I was torn between the Dorsal and O'Neill brand. I have to be honest I never could make up my mind so after the O'Neill brand dropped from $54.00 to $41.00 I just bought both of them and decided to go from there. I now have both in my possession and will review both here on Amazon on each products page, hopefully it helps someone else out make a decision and as always with all of my reviews, I never have gotten anything for free or at a discount price. My wife and I spend a lot of time around the water, beach and many times we have found ourselves wishing we had one of these changing towel robes. We always thought one of these changing robe's would be nice to get out wet clothes and change into something dry for the boat ride back, offer privacy and even take the chill off the air if needed. They could be used around the pool and for those trips back and forth to the hot tub in the winter. So with that being said we are in the market for two of these robes, one for a man and one for a women.First one I ordered $39.94 and received was the Dorsal Robe- fast shipping to the door and arrived in a clear plastic bag. Out of the bag inspection the material felt soft and something that resembles a microfiber. I looked for a tag that would tell me exactly what the product was made of and where it was made, there is nothing as it is totally sterile. The color is listed as black and it looks black unless you put it beside something that is actually black (Black O'Neill), hopefully that makes sense. To me the color actually favors a very dark blue material but a nice color none the less and the front is quality embroidered with Dorsal, no kangaroo pouch or pockets and nothing on the back.Trying on the Dorsal- For reference I am 6'0 tall, 210 and of the muscular build. The robe slid right over the top with out any issues and right away you could feel the microfiber softness, quality, thickness and the warmth it could provide. It hung down right about knee level and provided good coverage. The Dorsal robe is 2 inches wider in the shoulder then the O'Neill robe and about an inch shorter. The Dorsal felt comfortable but right away I realized the arm holes were too small for me to slide my arms into the robe to change from the inside and even though the hood was very comfortable, the opening was a little tight for my liking. I also felt that a kangaroo pouch was a much needed addition for my taste and as stated before the arm holes would have to be widened or altered for this robe to work with me, I could live with the hood and neck area however. I thought back to one of the answers I had read for this product that stated the arm holes provided privacy for females by not exposing too much in that area and the neck also fit comfortably and after looking at the pic of the girl in this add I realized it made sense. Now I am not saying this robe wont work for men as it is a matter of taste and preference but I will say that my wife is 5'5, 110 and also of the muscular tone, this robe fits her perfectly she loved it. It hangs down to about the lower part of the shin, she loves the softness and the arm holes. In fact she does not like the O'Neill arm holes or neck area as she feels it exposes too much in that area when naked underneath. In short I do think this robe favors females in the upper region if it is not altered in anyway. So in conclusion I do feel this is a quality changing robe that will work for its intended purpose and very well suited for females or smaller stature gentlemen. Would we like to get them bought for cheaper, of course but shipped and total cost under $40.00 there is still plenty of value here and this will last for awhile. Would like to of seen the Dorsal Logo with the actual fin on the robe and a kangaroo pouch would be a welcomed upgrade. We are keeping this Dorsal robe for the wife as it is what she is looking for and would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a quality micro fiber changing robe.

So useful when at the beach
So useful when at the beach! Comes in handy when you get wet and need to change without a bathroom or private space. It's also nice when you are cold and don't have a jacket. Best purchase for multiple uses.

Thin
Overall, pretty thin compared to the "curve" brand that I bought. Got this for a friend, payed the same price and now my buddy is ribbing me about how he got the cheap one. This should be a $19 item in comparison.

The Dorsal Changing Poncho is an excellent product. You can get your head in the head opening without resistance. The arm openings are big enough to maneuver your ams from outside the robe to inside for changing purposes, yet the arm holes are small enough to provide upper body privacy for women. The length is more than adequate. You can wear the robe as a robe for warmth. The fabric appears to be microfiber, so it should dry quickly.

Blue not black...(disappointing)...
The robe i received was navy blue rather than black. However it had taken some time to arrive (although before the estimated date) so i didn’t bother returning, although i really wanted black. A thinner lighter material than the Booicore & Atlantic Shore robes & no pockets - but comfortable & will be better in hotter weather.

Looks the part, washes well
really nice. Lots of space. Would love it to be a tiny bit longer but it is ready long compared to other options online. Washes well.
