I Really Like This
I just needed a handy instant thermometer that worked. This compact little item really gets the job done with no fuss or bother. It is not frightening for children who may dislike being picked/prodded especially when they are not feeling well. You get used to the low beeps which, eventually, do aid in quick relief or growing concern over the presence of a fever. I am a grandmother, so i have tried quite a few of these products over the years, yes, including the old fashioned mercury thermometers and I have found this one to be accurate and very user-friendly. Also, not having to replace lens covers is the best convenience of all..a little rubbing alcohal after use is all it requires. A very nice product that travels well.

Accurate and easy to use
The product is good and accurate. It is easy to use and helps me a lot. The conventional ones have their own drawbacks but for the babies this is the best and best for the price available in the market. Highly recommended

VERY frustrating
How would you like to be up at 3am, sick and trying to take a temperature and never get any consistent reading. Last night mine were between 97 and 102. And it has never worked well for anyone in any ear. I am so glad that we saved our mercury thermometer. Still don't know what to do for the babies.Find something other than this product.

Not as accurate as other models
I have used a few different models and brands of instant read thermometers, and this model hasn't performed to my expectations. I realize this is instant read and it takes readings from the ear, both of which make it less accurate. But taking several readings within a minute or from both ears would reveal a great variance in temperature (3-4 degrees). That's unacceptable for me. I got a Braun instant read thermometer and it takes much better readings (consistently gives the same reading within a minute and is close, around .4 or .8 degrees to standard thermometers).

I wouldn't call this a very accurate or dependable product ...
I wouldn't call this a very accurate or dependable product, but it tells me if the kids temps go off the chart.

Excellent value
Everyone with a child needs a thermometer in the house! Ordered this one and it came pretty quickly and didn't work (something wrong with the battery connect, I believe). I returned it and they even sent me a new one BEFORE they received the broken one. Now THAT's customer service! The replacement works fine.Super easy to use and no probe covers. A simple thermometer - when you need to know someone's temp without a lot of bells and whistles.

One of the few that actually works.
A lot of these types of thermometers don't work too well, but this one is worth the money. It does take some practice to understand how to hold it for proper temperature reading, and I suspect many people who have problems or claim it doesn't read well may be inconsistent in it's use, although I can't say for sure. The Mabis is fast, seems quite accurate and doesn't require the use of covers that add to the cost and can make it other brands inconvenient to use.I recommend practicing with it on the people you will use it on most, while they are feeling well. Test in both ears until you get a consistent reading and note how you are holding it in the ear. Like any thermometer, digital or not, the biggest trick is in the way you use it.

I'd give it a zero if I could
We have owned this thermometer for over a year now and it's slowly angered me more and more each time my daughter gets sick. This unit is always inconsistent. I always have to take her temperature in each ear and the results are never the same. Today for instance I got a reading of 99.9 in one ear (no fever) and 101.3 in the other (fever!) I am aware that taking temperatures in the ear often gives a less accurate reading but these two readings are no where near each other. My daughter has become quite accustomed to having her temperature read in both ears so much so, that she asks the doctor to do both when she sees him. The screen is easy to read in the middle of the night but it's no helpful when the readings are so inaccurate. The "one simple" button thing is obnoxious. My daughter was playing with it and switched it to Celsius and it was all but near impossible to switch it back. Doing the conversion at 2:30 a.m. was not an enjoyable experience for us. I say skip this unit- it's a waste of your hard earned money, your time and, most importantly, your patience. Patience you'll need when your little ones are sick.q
