iFiiPower X - Low Noise Power Supply DC Adapter – Upgrade Your Audio/Video/Electronics (9V)

Substituting an iPower x 5v for the iPower2 that came with the spdif iPurifier2 improved the sound quality another step or two in my system.Using an iMac 2019 running Amarra Luxe as a source, the usb signal via pangea xl usb cable runs through an iFi usb iPurifier3 into an audiophellio2 to a 25’ coax run into the spdif iPurifier2 into a Metrum Octave dac.Each iFi device improved the sound quality.Removing jitter in the signal path.In a system that is revealing, and if you notice differences from changes this could be useful.Prior to adding the purifiers I thought I had a clear idea of my dacs sound signature. I thought I wanted a better dac, but the iFi products and Pangea xl usb cable delivered a much more refined signal and gave my dac a much better frequency response, clarity, detail, ease, depth, allowing it to shine like it can.With the iPower X I noticed more focus in the sound images, a bit more nuance, clarity, distinctness. Sound rings truer. When I play music on my system, my wife usually requests it go away when she comes in from work. Today she let it play on, and enjoyed an artist she likes!iFi could offer up the spdif iPurifier 2 paired with the iPower X as a “plus” option.?!For me the iPower X addition was worth it!

At first while comparing against my wall socket for the WIIM mini I am using this on. I did not notice much a noticeable difference to the standard wall adapter that came with the WIIM mini. But, once she has a chance to break in maybe after a couple of days you notice more dynamics and a smoother presentation overall . It is not a night and day difference. But you can tell its better. Like a slightly foggy window to a cleaner window I would say. More dynamics and clearer image is what you are getting folks.

Bought some replacement powered desktop speakers and found myself underwhelmed by their sound. They seemed a bit muddy. Mid-range heavy and lacking in low bass and treble. There was also a low hiss when no audio was playing. I've done a lot of audio production work, and I'm sensitive and attentive when listening to music. I decided I would send the speakers back in a week and try different ones.While researching power conditioners I spotted this replacement power supply. This more expensive version matched the 12v/2amp power supply of my new speakers. I decided it would be an interesting experiment before sending the speakers back. I was fully expecting to return them both.Plugged it in. The background hiss was gone. Started playing some tracks on Tidal and found myself really enjoying those new speakers. They sound full, clear, detailed, with extra range. I wouldn't have said that yesterday.I honestly didn't expect this. I've decided to keep both, as I'm really enjoying what I hear.

The seller of my used preamp warned me about noise on my streaming/router USB sources and noisy A/C etc. I heeded his warnings and had dedicated A/C outlets added. I also upgraded to iFi DC power adapters. Not until adding the Ethernet filter and the wall adapters did it all seriously 'click'. Adding ETH decoupling and clean DC power to BOTH my Wiim streamer and DAC things got pretty darn fantastic. Noticeable improvement and not sure if it's the ETH optociupler or the better power but VERY worthy upgrades for pretty cheap making cheap stuff sound seriously dynamic, clean, holographic etc. You know, :-) HiFi

I compared this 15V power supply to my Topping P50 15V power supply. It did not impress. Get the Topping.

using the 5v version to power a WiiM mini, my expectations were low, but it was still cheaper than getting another better streamer. I always thought that there was a tinny element to the WiiM, compared to hardwiring an iPhone into my DAC. The second I plugged this Ifi power supply in, the sound had more body, was less congested and the tinny treble was refined, accompanied by a blacker background and more micro details. It is worth noting that the rest of my system (DAC, amp & speakers), are very revealing. Im not sure how big a difference it will make in less transparent systems…..still now I’m just wondering how many other of the wall warts I have powering audio devices deserved to be replaced by this

I was thinking of upgrading my front end Paradigm Link streamer that is connected to my DAC. Once I plugged this in the bass became fuller and tighter, the soundstage more open and voices more like the artist was in the studio. I can't justify spending any more money on a new streamer, I am very happy with this product connected to my current streamer.

If you're reading this review thinking that you need this for better audio quality I'll give you the answer that you don't and there was no difference

I was skeptical that a smps would make a meaningful improvement but was pleasantly surprised with the improvements to an inexpensive Wiim Pro streamer. Improvements to the streamer include refinement, transparency, bass extension and more palpable imaging.

Lo compré esperando mejorar la calidad de sonido en general de mi Zen DAC V1 que está conectado a mi laptop, también esperaba que eliminara el clipping/popping del dac causado por la mala implementación de su firmware (gracias iFi por causarme este dolor de cabeza constante).Los resultados: no he notado mejora de sonido alguna en las frecuencias, tampoco eliminó el clipping del DAC (de nuevo gracias iFi) sin embargo disminuyo notablemente el ruido que provocaba la perilla de volumen al momento de girarla (como de estática) sin solucionarlo al 100, diría que soluciono este problema un 85-90% lo cual agradezco porque es un dolor menos de cabeza, finalmente como opinión creo firmemente que este aditamento te mantiene cubierto ante eventualidades como picos de corrientes galvánicas o ruido que pudiera llegar a entorpecer tu experiencia de audio, el producto se siente de calidad muy premium y vienen bastantes aditamentos de conexión, le doy 4 estrellas.

While it may be hard to analyze the effectiveness of this product without an analyzer to gauge noise,i can say that using it with my Zen Stream, has in my opinion greatly contributed to its marvelous sound.With the ipower inserted into the chain, the background is blacker, which allows me to hear far more details in the music.I cannot perceive any noise, including hum in the chain, with the iFi ipower X inserted. I believe this product, does what it advertises.

I live in a condo built in the 70s with aluminum wiring. Needless to say we have VERY dirty power. My pedalboard was quiet enough but did suffer from some extra noise, especially when running heaters in the winter. Once I switched to running my board with the iFi supply the board became dead silent and sounded even more crisp. The BIG notice is my classic 108 fuzz which used to pick up radio stations. It is now dead quiet.

Paired with RME ADI-2 FS. Texture, image and coherence are better than the bundle power adapter. But not a huge difference. Buyer needed to evaluate the cost effectiveness.
