If you have a BRZ and need a camera then just buy this kit already and save the hassle of putting something together on your own
I have a 2015 Subaru BRZ series blue and i have installed this on my car on my own. This kit comes with literally everything you need for plug and play operations for the wiring and it was awesome. My car was a plug and play for the wiring but some cars are not and the directions provided are amazing so if you need to trace the wire needed for the reverse cam its all in the instructions!! This kit also came with the hole saw needed and its a perfect fit and size too, just measure and cut. I had cut mine on the side of the trunk trim opposite of the mech trunk key release. The camera is quite low profile and works perfect. There are lines on this camera but if you cut the CLEAR AND OBVIOUS WIRE there is no more lines from the camera and itll use the ones from the head unit instead "i left some room incase i ever want to put them together again" The image is awesome during the day on the head unit and at night its a little dark but compared to other back up cams i have had and seen its equal or better, i just know some units come with IR lights to assist at night and this does not have them. Bottom line is, if you have a BRZ and want a back up camera and do not want to hassle with getting the correct connectors, harnesses, cameras, blah blah together just spend the money and you will not be dissapointed with this kit, its about as close or better to factory as you can get!!

Good product.
I consider myself your average layman when it comes to these things, it took me around 6 hours to install this. The instructions are good for the part where you actually connect it to your stereo, but for everything else you’re going to need to watch online videos. There is a lot of de-panelling involved if you want to do this properly, and I really mean A LOT. Granted most of it comes off easily, but it takes a while to do. The most difficult part for me was routing the camera cable through the trunk. Not for beginners. I wish they included more butt connectors for the power source. I was seriously careful with them as there are no extras and you can’t afford messing them up.Also, make sure you have a hand drill for the camera cut out.The end result was satisfying. I don’t think and can’t imagine a better after market backup cam out there exists at the moment. Would recommend. Will update review if there any issues.

Great camera, super easy install.
First I want to say that I never installed something like this in any car, but I'm fairly handy. I bought this unit in March and waited a few months because I wanted to have many hours available to install it in case something would have gone wrong. Wow! Was I wrong. It was so easy to install. It took me just about 2 hours. It could have take a lot less time, but I was very careful at removing the plastic trim to bring the wires from the trunk to the radio head unit. The picture quality is great day or night. I'm very satisfied with this camera.

Great price, and easy to follow instructions.
Pros:- Great value/price ratio (this kit was about $150. other OEM cameras + labor could cost $500+)- Instructions are thorough. Everything installed and functioned correctly the first time following the instructions. It does include clear instructions on exactly where to install the reverse trigger wire if needed.- Kit includes all necessary equipment. Zip ties, drill bit/hole bore, reverse sensor wire.- Looks and functions like OEM.Cons:- Field of view is more narrow than expected.- Difficult to see at night (Stock BRZ specific, see notes below).- The wires that plug directly to the head unit and connect to the main camera wire harness are very delicate.Camera Function: You can see everything directly behind you that you can't with your three mirrors, as you should. However, you can't use this camera to see around cars/walls that you park next to in order to check for incoming traffic. Obviously, it is not recommended and sometime illegal to back into traffic blindly with or without a backup camera, but sometimes it's unavoidable in certain parking lots. Also, if it is pitch dark at night and the ground is not lit up by a street light, the camera will be blinded compensating for the lights above the license plates. In this condition, you will only have about a two to three foot visibility beyond your bumper. I am going to try to figure out how to turn these vanity lights off while reversing, or dim them, or get brighter reverse lights (on side and bumper lights).Installation notes: I installed this on a 2014 Subaru BRZ Limited (Automatic Transmission) that I use as a daily driver. I did not need to install the reverse trigger wire as the car already had it installed from factory. The instructions are very detailed, but leave out how to pass the wires from the camera through the trunk lid through a rubber grommet. This grommet contains wires for the button to open the trunk lid. You can simply use a Dremel to carefully bore a hole through for the camera wires without cutting or exposing the wires already in the grommet.Recommended tools not included in kit:- More and/or smaller zip ties- Wire strippers/crimpers, electrical tape- Heat gun, shrink wrap (and/or solder, solder iron, etc.)- Fish tape (1. to fish wire through a flexible tube grommet from the trunk lid to the inside of the trunk, and 2. to fish the wire from the trunk wall, under the back seat, and into the back of the driver-side door sill)- Dremel with spherical bore bit (i.e. engraver's bit)- Fender/liner retainer clip removal tool- Painters tape, sharpie, rasp/file/step drill bit (for aid in cutting hole in the rear plastic trim and eliminate burrs)

Plug and Play but Routing is a Pain
I'm pretty hands on and this installation was easy. The instruction manual is pretty vague but I had saved a DIY step-by-step walthrough on the BRZ forums. I would recommend looking into this first since it details how to remove the plastic trims without damaging the car. The kit was plug and play with immediate detection. I mounted the camera on the side opposite of the trunk key switch. If you look closely on the plastic panel, you'll see a small outline where a camera was intended to be mounted (for future builds). I have a 2013 BRZ. The toughest part is routing the wire through from the audio unit to the trunk. The rubber wire-ness going from the trunk space to the trunk panel and the grommet from the trunk-button to the trunk panel was very troubling and needed to be cut.
