i cant really fault the product, it does what its supposed to and has a good travel. The problem you will have is getting the old cylinder out - yes it really is just wedged in at both ends but you will end up battering your chair with a lump hammer to try and get the old one out.To remove the top of the cylinder i inverted the chair and worked around the seat base with a lump hammer whilst trying to suspend the chair.I got the base out by building a tower of 3 piles of bricks to rest the inverted base so it was suspended off the ground by a few cm then putting a socket from a socket set into the recess for the bottom of the cylinder, and then hit it. repeatedly.

Bought this to replace a 4-year-old gas lift in my office chair, the replacement itself went ok, pretty straightforward. It only lasted a few days though, when getting up off the seat the chair lifted to its highest point, then when sitting on it, sank to its lowest so the gas lift failed after a few days.Contacted the seller who said they'd send a new one out, but I'm still waiting, so I'm going to return this one for a refund and look elsewhere.

The faulty Gas Lift Cylinder could not be removed from the chair so Amazon arranged a return of the purchased item and a full refund. Thank you

The cylinder is exactly what it said it was, and gave new life to a desk chair that had lost its puff!Getting the old gas lift out of the previous chair was a nightmare, requiring wd40, the purchase of a larger monkey wrence and a mallet, but that is not a problem with the replacement, which fit perfectly and remains solid even at maximum extension under my hefty weight (6'4" and at least 2 x's before the L for my t-shirts!)If your chair is otherwise fine, this is an escellent way of giving it new life - just be ready for a fight to make the old chair ready to take the new cylinder!
