Wild Planet Anchovies: There are several types of anchovies, and various ways they are packaged (which some reviewers don’t seem to understand). These specific anchovies from Wild Planet are very similar to their sardines in size and taste. They’re a little firmer and actually not as “fishy” tasting as most other anchovy brands. Anchovy nutrition profiles are slightly different than sardines, and still very-very healthy for us. I’ve had very good luck with all Wild Planet canned fish: sardines, anchovies and tuna as well. I consider them a “top tier” brand. I definitely recommend them💪 *Personally I prefer my anchovies in extra-virgin olive oil. Served over organic - jasmine rice (non-enriched). One whole lemon. I had expected White cured anchovies — boquerones blancos. These are more like medium quality canned sardines vs anchovies. If you like canned sardines buy them. These are not what I expected

Tastes great

I just made my first order of these to see what they were like - and as others have repeatedly said, they are NOT what most people think of as "anchovies" (either the salty American ones or the pickled Spanish ones). These are simply canned fish that are slightly smaller than sardines from the same company, and they have a slightly milder flavor. Mine are reasonably fresh (canned in 2018, and marked best by 2022), and they are certainly better than just about any of the canned fish I have bought in the local supermarkets. I will reiterate that the flavor is very mild, both for the fish and the EVOO they are packed in. I actually prefer the slightly stronger flavor of sardines. If I buy these again, I might try the ones packed in water and sea salt, since I think the salt might improve them.

Terrific stuff - I’ll repeat what others have said as far as these being more like sardines than anchovies - much more . Delish and good for ya too!! These have slid right into my sardines/tuna in olive oil / salmon routine - as a pescatarian they’re a good and tasty and healthy fit . Get ‘em again and again ? Certainly !!

These might be anchovies but they are not the anchovies you're expecting and loving. They're not filets, they're much bigger, they're not salted or tasting the same and don't have the firm texture. They're not the stuff you put on pizzas or make Caesar salad dressing from. They're basically smaller sardines. I'm so disappointied after spending the money for anchovies to get what amounts to sardines. I like Wild Planet sardines and tuna very much. What a shock to get these.
