May be used for one-off events, but too cheaply made for everyday use
It wouldn't have taken much for me to keep these things. Here's why they're going back:1. They TURN ON RANDOMLY. Without any use of the remote, one will just turn on. If you're lucky enough to see it, you must turn it off with the remote. If it happens when you're not around for a day or so, the batteries will be dead by the time you get to it.2. They sometimes become UNRESPONSIVE TO THE REMOTE when the battery is dying, and when that happens, they CAN'T BE TURNED OFF. The only way to stop it is to unscrew the top enough so that the battery isn't making contact with the orb but not so much that it's too loose to stay in place and falls out of the orb.3. They have NO SLEEP TIMER and NO AUTO-SHUTOFF. There's no limit to how long they'll stay on, i.e., the only way they'll go off is if you turn them off.4. The REMOTE has an exceedingly LIMITED RANGE. I've had to hold it within a foot of the orbs to get them to go on. I've never successfully turned on all six at once.5. While the orbs themselves are solid plastic so thick that I initially thought them to be glass, the LIGHT-GENERATING CHIP IS FLIMSY, NOT ATTACHED TO THE ORB, AND VERY EASY TO BREAK. The top of the chip has the spring that forms the battery circuit, so every time you open the top of the orb to either replace the battery or turn it off (see 2. above), the chip becomes dislodged from the orb and requires you to manipulate it back into place before replacing the batteries and screwing the top back into place. If the chip is a little tilted when you do so, the pressure of the batteries pressing the spring on the top of the chip may cause the chip to break at the edge, as it did with one of them the first time I screwed the top on.6. Because the chips aren't attached to the orb, the spring moves around and frequently loses contact with the battery. As such, EVEN PROPERLY SCREWING ON THE TOP TIGHTLY ENOUGH CAN'T PREVENT THE CHIPS FROM LOSING CONTACT WITH THE BATTERIES, and they shut off intermittently, especially when they're in motion (e.g., in water). These things are a great idea. But the chips they used are just too cheap to function the way they should, the design lends itself to easily breaking the chips, and in the end, they can't be used on any kind of regular basis. The only use I can recommend for them is occasional one-off events like parties, etc. In those circumstances, it doesn't matter whether they burn out the batteries quickly and they won't require regular opening.

Amazing!!
These are amazing! I ordered six and immediately ordered twelve more after one use. The colors are bright and there are many display options (all one color, each a different color, some color changing and some steady color, etc). Each individual ball can be controlled with the remote. I have used these twice so far in the pool and they worked great. The first time was a calm, night swim. The second time was for a pool party filled with kids so there were quite a few waves in the pool. A few of the balls took in a little water but it did not affect the light whatsoever. We just unscrewed the light and squeezed the water out of the ball. The area where the light is located is separate from the inside of the ball where the water leaked in so it didn't create an issue. Highly recommend these for pool or also for holiday decorations.

Ugh, sad day - All dented spheres
Update:They ended up working well enough for Halloween. I've upped my review to 3 out of 5 with how the company reacted below.I will reach out to Cheddy about replacements for the four that are squarish.-----Original ReviewUGH, they would have been perfect! I read the reviews and the owner(s) seem great...and so does the product. My experience is mixed. I've turned on two of the six orbs and the colors are exactly what I wanted. The issue: every orb has dents. Some orbs have minor dents while most orbs are starting to look like their square cousins (4).I may try to reach out to Cheddy to see if there is anything they can do.I'll update if anything changes.

Being Jedi Isn't All About Wielding Light Sabers
The reason for the purchase of Illuminorb is the Jedi Training Academy being held at my house where we were expecting about 15 jedi-hopefuls, and what better way to bring order to the galaxy than to teach a good old-fashioned jedi mind trick. I set the orbs in a circle in which each padawan would have to sit and center him/herself as I guided them through a meditation to focus their energy on the orbs. The remote was easy enough for my husband to work, he was even able to coordinate the colors with each padawan, completely undetected. If the remote was too far away one or two of the orbs would randomly flash a different color, but the jedi in me told the padawan to focus harder. Worked like a jedi taking the impossible shot on the Death Star.

Love them!!
Had to fiddle with a few, since they didn't all work at 1st, but they all now work great! I love the remote - my favorite is to fade in/out of all the colors. Very soft and beautiful looking when they're lit. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Thank you!p.s. I would recommend getting a battery tester! I thought some of the batteries were spent, since some of the LED balls weren't working. But after taking them apart, testing the batteries (they all had a full charge) and putting it all back together, they all worked fine! If I didn't have a battery tester, I would have thrown out perfectly good batteries. LOVE my new LED balls.

Pretty, But Very Frustrating
I love the way these orbs look in my above-ground pool, but I am very frustrated about 2 things. 1. I had to replace all the batteries in the orbs before I could even use them. Also, they do not send enough batteries. 6 orbs x 2 batteries each = 12. I received 2 packs of 5 batteries each. 2. After only using these 1 time, 1 of the orbs completely fell apart & cannot be put back together! (It looks like it should just screw back together, but it does not.) I don't want to return 6 orbs & wait for another shipment just because 1 doesn't work. If they would be replaced without me having to do that, I would give 5 stars, but Amazon only gives me the option to return.

These are high quality, well packaged, graciously and gratefully they come with a spare set of batteries for each AND they are simply gorgeous. A soft matte surface and lovely glowing light. The only reason they got 4 instead of 5 stars is they lasted about 6 hours tops for us... I just wished for a bit longer. But I'd buy them again because they worked so well while they were on!
