your time is running out... !
seems well constructed and looks nice. some other hourglass reviews complained it wasn't timing an hour, so i timed this one when it first arrived. it took 57 minutes to empty, which is fine for my use. i took it to work where we have an informal 'no meetings longer than an hour' rule. we now use it to humorously enforce that rule, by pointing out when the hourglass is about to run out. it's an easy way to bring the meeting to a close, plus it always gets a laugh when someone new is there. great purchase.

Beautiful and accurate!
I got this to replace a cheaper hourglass my husband had (one that was all glass with no supports) that did not keep time well at all. This one does a great job. It's pretty close to an hour. He uses it all the time and does pushups whenever the sand runs out. Gotta love that, too!!

Poorly constructed
Poorly put together. I pulled this out of the box and it literally fell apart in my hands! I had six pieces: three spindles, the actual hourglass, a top piece and the bottom base. Not sure if I will return or not. All it needs is to be glued together. Otherwise it does look nice. But it definitely is NOT put together well. A little glue would’ve gone a long way.

Nice when fixed!
The picture makes it seem taller than it actually is which isn't an issue if you go by the actual dimensions rather than the picture. My only problem with the item is that came unattached. The glue seems to be worn off so everything just falls appart. Last night I assembled it to my liking and placed it back in the box and when I took it out this morning, it was totally apart. Once put together it looks pretty nice so I plan on assembling it again with either wood glue (that is if it is indeed real wood) or super glue...but for 40 bucks, I shouldn't have to.

Great Household Tool
My wife & I love this hourglass. We use it to trump each others "I'm too busy moments" to make sure we are spending a good amount of time together. I timed ours at 1:00:30 (one hour, zero minutes, thirty seconds). If you're looking for fine, hand-carved craftsmanship, then this might not be what you are looking for, but this is a beautiful piece and it does exactly what it says it does.

Attractive, but not well made
It looks good, and works well. In other words, the sand takes about an hour to empty into the bottom chamber. However, after occasional usage, it's now wobbly because the connecting "poles" have loosened. If all of them loosen, it will totally detach. I have going to put some superglue into the indentions and hope that will solve the problem.

As advertised. Looks good. Surprisingly accurate.
It arrived on time and unbroken and looks essentially identical to the picture here. I timed its period with a digital stopwatch: 60 minutes 31 seconds (subsequent runs have all been within ten seconds of that). I would have been content with anything between 50 and 70 minutes, but was pleasantly surprised!

Great buy. We used our phone to time the sand and it is exactly an hour, as stated. The quality of the product is good and it makes an impressive display on my desk. Would buy another if I needed it!

Great Hourglass
Excellent hourglass. Exactly what I was looking for: elegance and function combined. The wood may not be real, as in it could be a melamine covering, but I don't really care. If it is indeed real, that's even better. But you would be hard pressed to tell the difference as the colour is rich and the functionality is spot on.Based on my timing, it is + or - 1-2 minutes depending on many factors, especially humidity (some sand will stick on the glass walls or won't flow that great, but it's very rare for it to happen and is normal for hourglasses).

Poorly made and bad at timekeeping
This product is very poorly made, visibly off-centered and came apart in my hands requiring me to re-glue the wooden stands. After some timing I've discovered that it runs out in under 40 minutes. I'm hopeful it's close to exactly 30 minutes, since what the hell is the point of a 37 minute timer? I would not recommend this product at ALL considering the price, I'd expect this quality from a $10 product.

piece of junk
the metal ball shaped stands fell out by itself, screwed on manually (no big deal), a few days later, the screw fell out.... it was off by a few minutes and not the same time between several uses.
