Wolf Hall Trilogy 3 Books Collection Set By Hilary Mantel (The Mirror and the Light [Hardcover], Wolf Hall, Bring Up the Bodies)

After watching Wolf Hall on PBS, I took a chance and ordered the Trilogy (which covers way more history than the PBS series). It took me a while to catch the cadence, nuances and rhythm of Ms. Mantel's writing as it is almost a stream of consciousness (Thomas Cromwell's), however I'm glad I stuck with it as I absolutely love her writing and of course, this story. Sometimes a sentence or paragraph blows me away to the point where I have to read it again and again to hug it close. Her uniqueness and storytelling mastery reminds me of Annie Prouxl's "The Shipping News". Hopefully PBS will bring the other two books to the screen.

Books arrived on time and packed with care. Have only just started Wolf Hall but enjoying it immensely.

Hilary Mantel's writing was very detail-oriented; thankfully she includes a list of characters at the beginning of each book to keep us readers clear on who is who. One small issue I had was that from time to time it wasn't clear who was speaking - that is, it was not stated "Cromwell said/Thomas spoke---". I found that a bit befuddling - or maybe my poor brain just couldn't keep up!

I love her writing ! She makes the reader work at the book. By that I mean that she doesn’t use quotation marks all the time so the reader has to figure out who is talking. I find this fascinating. She writes about what is in the characters minds and not just on their lips. This is a unique style of writing and I love it !

I would recommend this to be read by high school students to make them understand not only British History, but how the story, characters, affect all of us in America. Her writing and research of history is so well done.

The writing is superb. I feel as though I am right there in 15th century England with these remarkable people.

I just received the 3 books yesterday so it's a little early to ask how I liked them since I've only read 2 chapters of book 1. Ask me again in a few weeks

Enjoy these very much on book two now just a bit hard to read at times since there is no " only ' so its hard to keep track who is talking at different points.
