My dog gives it a thumbs up.
I was afraid my dog wouldn't use this since she is used to going outside but sometimes I just can't get right home and she needed an alternative so I decided to give this a shot. It worked! She took to it immediately and pees and poops exactly where she should. For those who are having trouble getting your dog to use the pad what I did was bring a few dead leaves inside. My dog (a 22lb Boston Terrier) pees in leaves all the time so when she saw and smelled leaves on top of what appeared to be grass she didn't think twice about using it as a potty. The next time there were no leaves but she had identified it as a place where she was allowed to pee so she kept using it. The only issues I've had are that I should have made her a larger plot. Sometimes she squats and misses a bit and when she poops she has a tendency to kick (who knows why dogs do that) and so I end up with poop off the mat. But I put the entire thing (on a crate tray with pee pads underneath) in the walk in shower in thr guest room so when she misses I'm just left with the task of using Clorox spray to clean up the shower floor. The only reason I gave it less than 5 stars is because it smells. After the first use it smelled like dog urine. Water, soap, high powered spray and even lysol doesn't really make the smell go away. I'm lucky and I live in a house so I clean it after each use and lay it outside in the sun to dry and store it away until the next time she'll be home for an extended period of time which luckily isn't daily. I don't know that I'd want this just sitting somewhere in my home for everyday use. Dog urine is a pretty awful odor. BUT, it does work. My dog uses it AND only it. She doesn't just pee anywhere in the house she only uses this little plot of grass. Oh! Final thing. This thing sheds. Cut it outside if you have to cut it or it will shed "grass" all over the place.

So natural looking that I bought another the same day it arrived!
This is by far one of the very best purchases I've ever made here on Amazon!!! If you are in need of a grassy area that is life-like, this is it! I ordered it in the 13.2' x 6.5' size for my grandparent's front lawn next door. They have two large maples that we all love to sit under from spring to fall, and unfortunately, over the years of use, the grass has become non-existent. Just a bunch of dirt that gets all over the chairs anytime someone walks in the chair area, and when it rains, it just plastered dirt all over the bottom 6" -12" of the legs. Such a dirty mess! So, I went looking for astro turf or some kind of material that we could put down to make it a better looking area, but also functional. After a ton of research, I came across this artificial grass. It claimed it was like real grass, and let me tell you it is!!! After it arrived, and we saw how awesome it was, I immediately ordered another one so it would complete the sitting area. I would have initially ordered the 23' x 13' size, but it is 3x's the price! If you need that large of a size, just order two of the 13' size like we did. You can cut it if need be. They fit together so nicely, you can't even tell there are two pieces down. Just make sure they are facing the same direction so the grass looks natural.Everyone that has come over to visit, and sit under the trees with us has remarked at how much nicer the area looks. Some have even said that they were impressed that the grass grew in so nicely since there is no sun! The trees are so large, and the leaves so big, very very little sun makes it to that area. Only from the side for an hour or two in the evening as the sun is setting, but that's it.Let me tell you, not only does this grass look real, it FEELS real! It feels like a nice, soft, cool fescue under your feet. If you did not know it wasn't real, you would think it was! We're all so impressed with it, that we wish we could afford to do the entire lawn with it. I did not lay it in like you are supposed to. Nope. I didn't install it at all. I just literally laid it on top of the dirt. I had purchased some 6" lawn or sod stakes to help hold these in place, but I never even used them! The bag is still sealed on them, and wish I had returned them before my 30 days was up!One did arrive a couple inches longer than the other one, but we haven't even trimmed it to be even. It's just not that big of a deal to us to mess with. I have thought about putting a white garden fence around the sitting area though, because I think it would look nice, and would help to hide the edges of the grass, making it look even more real than it already does. But hey, it's already fooled so many people, lol. We honestly must talk about it several times a week while sitting out there, about how real it looks. Even my very hard to please uncle, is impressed with it, and is happy with my purchase.I do want to mention also that the odor is very very low. I have chemical sensitivities, and did not have any issue with it at all. I don't think I would want to put it in an enclosed space right away, but outside it was just fine. I didn't have to steer clear of it at all. which I was afraid might be the case. I am happy to say there was no need to do that in the least bit. Before I forget, I also want to say how sturdy this is. My little pomeranian does this "rooster-kicking" kind of thing all the time on it, and it has yet to lose any grass. I keep expecting some of it to get pulled loose, but so far, that has not happened at all. If you are wanting this for a dog run area, I highly recommend it! My dog does tend to think it's for going potty on, and marks his scent whenever he is out there. It has no odor from him doing that either, so that is a huge plus! One other thing I was concerned about was if it would get mushy, or hold water, and create puddles when it rains, but it does not do that at all. I have walked on it right after it has poured for hours, and even all night, and no water accumulated on, around or under it. So, it seems to have very good drainage, and I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am about that. It has helped to keep the lawn furniture free from dirt, and looking very neat and clean.Since this is sitting under 2 large maples, I was thinking that when the leaves fall, it might be easier this year to just drag the grass over to the curb, rather than raking the leaves all up! I'll have to come back and update my review if I try it, lol. Seems like it'd be easier than raking, but I could be wrong. The color is quite realistic, and it does have several different colors in it, including some brown "dead" grass, but not so much that you actually see it unless you look very very closely at it. The detail is amazing, and so natural. Definitely one of the very best purchases I have ever made not only on Amazon, but anywhere. I do wish it were less expensive, but let me tell you, compared to what is in the stores, this is so worth the extra money. There really is no comparison. We've said even if this only lasts one season, it was worth it, and we don't have that kind of money to throw around either. We spend A LOT of time outside under those trees, that it's like a living room. Much cooler than either of our houses, and now with this grass, it is so inviting. I'll upload photos soon of our little area.***UPDATED 7/6/16 to add photos***In the images you can see what our seating area was like before we added this PetZen Garden grass. Just a bunch of dirt, which meant there was always dusty dirt everywhere, on the chairs, bottoms of our feet, etc. If it rained, it splattered everywhere. You can also see after we laid down the first order of grass. It was clearly not large enough, so I immediately ordered another one to go beside it. It's the best thing we have done for that area to this date, and we all still love it. The one image with just the side of the fire pit and a closer look at the ground....it has a leaf and a shadow....I was trying to show that this image shows BOTH of the grass mats, and you really really have to look closely to see where they fit together. (It's the 7th image I am loading, but not sure how it will end up in the lineup once they are all loaded.) Anyway, that's how great this is, and again, these are literally just laid down right next to each other, not installed at all. The tree roots are too high to allow any kind of installation. The 4th image, I believe, shows a fuller view from the street, showing the edges of the mats pretty clearly. This is why I'd like to put some kind of border around it, so that it would hide that more. Some kind of garden edging or flower garden or something maybe. The close up images of the grass, show the different shades, including the brown thatch kind of blades. Let me tell you, if you didn't know, and you were walking on it with bare feet, you would not know this was not real grass. It feels real, not like plastic at all. It's just awesome!*This product was purchased at full retail price for our yard, not discounted or free.

The Perfect Turf for High Traffic and Playgrounds
I bought a LOT of this grass for 2 areas of my yard. We re-did the smaller side yard for my mom (who lives in a 'mothers den' in the back), and also my own, much larger area of the backyard. I have a special needs child, and being able to maintain real grass (mowing, fertilizing so it stays green, etc.) was getting to be too much. My two son's love to run and play in the back, and when we had real grass, they would leave dead trails of grass (we had little dead grass 'paths' in all of the high traffic areas). I just couldn't maintain it nice between the time consumption and reoccurring costs.PROS:- This grass is lush! I was so pleasantly surprised with just how plush this grass is. I've seen artificial turfs before, and the blades were so short and low to the ground. This is nice and plush.- It really does look natural, like real grass (though greener of course throughout the year, like an exceptionally well manicured lawn). It's really impressive how realistic it does look with the shades of green and the little bits of "dried grass" woven in(not sure what to call it, lol - see the product image here on Amazon, it's authentic to what they show).- A+ Traffic durability! One of the biggest questions / concerns I had with this grass is that it might not be durable enough for the purpose I needed it for (high traffic from two kids who love running around in the backyard on a daily basis). We have our swingset-playground on top of this grass, as well as a sandbox area. My kids run on it all the time. We've had water balloon fights, played baseball, and more! There has been absolutely no durability loss at this time, and we've been very active on it for 3 months now.- We live in Florida and I have this grass out in direct sunlight. There has been no issues or color washing at all. It's still as vibrant as day 1.- It drains really well. We're at the rainy season in Florida and the grass has never flooded or had water pool on top. It also dries fast.I know artificial turf is an investment, so I wanted to make this as clear and as helpful as possible.CONS:- The hardest part of the whole process will be (in my opinion) getting the grass to align together when you have multiple pieces. I had a very hard time getting the pieces to seamlessly blend. Despite ensuring the grass blades were facing the same direction, there is still a slight noticeable 'line' where the two pieces come together. There is no gap between the two pieces, it just didn't blend well.THINGS TO KNOW:- I'm no handywoman, so I didn't have a big drawn out process for installing my grass (you may want to watch videos to perfect it). For me, I did the following: I removed all debris and plants from the area the grass was going on - I leveled the area the best I could using a rake and a 'dirt packing tool' - Then, I rolled out weed barrier over the dirt - After that, the grass was rolled out. Simple as that. It turned out awesome! Granted, there are a few unlevel areas and minor 'dirt lumps', it doesn't bother us at all and is hardly noticeable unless you know where to look. (you may want to spend more time packing the dirt down if you want it perfectly flat, I'd recommend packing it down, waiting a day, then coming back out to pack it again to allow things to settle overnight).- You are going to need to buy steel staples (landscape staples). If you can get them 'galvanized' that's even better (they don't rust as easily). You're going to want a lot to fully secure the grass. To give you an idea, I purchased 13 of the 13.2 x 6.5 ft rolls (I couldn't get the larger size in such quantity due to freight shipment issues to my address). I ended up using hundreds of staples (I lost count, but I know it's more than 500 staples between securing weed barrier and the grass)Overall, I am so happy with the overall look and quality of this grass.*The attached image is from my moms side that we did, the top is before, and bottom is of course after. I'll try to update this at some point with our side of the yard.**** UPDATE: ****- I'm editing this post weeks later and still give this grass a glowing 5 stars! I'm adding the image of our backyard playground area (still under construction, but my 2 boys play on it nearly every day. They run on it, jump on it, roll around on it, and it holds up perfectly! This is a recent image of the playground area, so as you can see, the grass is still just as green and beautiful as it was on day 1. So happy with it!)
