Wahl Professional5 Star Hot Lather Machine with Fast Heating Ready Indicator Easy Maintenance

I love the way this looks as opposed to traditional boring bulky machines. Started right up was able to use immediately. I was concerned about the premixed cream, I figured it was Wahls way of making you constantly buy more stuff, but it has lasted a long time surprisingly. I really wish the foam was a little warmer, this is like warm at best

Having been shopping for a hot lather machine for a long time without luck. The cheap ones don't heat the lather and the expensive ones seem to break down too easy. After watching a couple of real barbers review this on YouTube I decided to take a shot. I am really happy I did. The lather is hot after 50 minutes and it works perfectly.

I am not a pro and shave only every other day. I have a Campbell's too and am sick of it. I just ordered and received this Wahl's. Not too happy with temp but it will do. Not happy with lather at all. Don't like odor and the foam dissipates very quickly. I would like to use Campbell's lather, but I noticed that the Campbell's soap has a tendency to sink to the bottom, requiring me to shake my gallon container before pouring into machine. I wonder if this will be a problem using Campbell's lather with this machine? Maybe the settling soap does not matter to a pro who goes through it much quicker than me.Also the light that indicates either "heating" or "ready" is VERY bright. I have to close my bathroom door or it lights up my bedroom. It's especially annoying because it constantly switches back and forth from Red to Blue. It's so bright that I can detect the color change with my eyes closed, even though I do not have a direct line of sight to the light. I guess this is more appropriate for a Professional environment. I might send this back after trying it for a few days.2/16/17 Update - Changing my rating from two to four stars. Been using Campbell's lather for about a month. It works GREAT! It's much cheaper than the Wahls' and does not have the Wahl's odor that I don't care for. I make it a gallon at a time, and so far I have filled the reservoir only once! I cannot explain this, but the Campbell's lather seems to get much warmer....even hot.Also I taped off and spray painted the light lens with gloss black paint. This substantially cut down, but did not totally eliminate the brightness. Much Better!3/27/17 Update - Discovered that using Campbell's Lather at THREE times the recommended mix ratio and pumping SEVEN times makes thick and hot lather, and again it's MUCH cheaper and, IMHO, has a more pleasant odor than the Wahl Lather. In over two months, using every other day, the machine has not clogged up and have only used about 2/3 (8 oz) of one filling of lather. Unlike Campbell's the lather is not exposed to the air and it does not evaporate. I suspect my milk jug gallon mix of Campbell's lather will last at least THREE years!Overall, I am very pleased with this mechanically much simpler Lather Dispenser compared to the Campbell's.8/17/19 Update - Been using this for almost 3 years and approx 575 shaves. Unbelievably, have gone through ONLY 2 quarts of mixed lather from my one gallon jug! The pump has clogged up only once. I followed the instructions for cleaning it and it worked fine afterwards. Not that I really needed them, because dispenser came with a spare, but I bought 3 new pumps for a total charge of only $23 incl shipping.I am reluctant to give the machine 5 stars only because I had to mod the bright light and I had figure out that it works better with the far less expensive, no odor, Campbell's lather.I would definitely buy this again.5/6/24 Update - Been using for 8 years and I love it! Discovered that the Campbell's 12 oz Pre-Mixed lather works VERY Well. And 12 oz is exactly what the resevoir holds, so re-filling is a breeze.I leave this machine powered on 24 /7. I don't want to wait for it to heat up. My pump will clog every 2 or 3 years. I have new replacements (they are cheap) and/or previously clogged but now cleaned pumps standing by.The only reason I won't upgrade rating to 5 stars is becuase of bright light and the fact that I had to find, through trial and error, the best lather. I must say... I love this setup!

It’s super over priced, I remember this product was 34.99 when It first launched like 2016. Also the quality has diminished as well. Immediately out of the package pump #1 would leak when the unit warmed up. Huge mess builds up right under your nose. Unit come with pump #2 lasted about 2 months working perfectly well until out of nowhere same issue as the first. It started to leak once solution warms up and pump #2 stop creating foam as well. I’ve always used Wahl products as a professional even my clippers but they have been dropping the ball lately. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT OR BUY IT AGAIN UNTIL THEY FIX THIS SINOKE ISSUE . For $150 it is not worth it not even for a tax write off! Highly disappointed customer with this company.

The media could not be loaded. I've had this unit for less than 6 months and it already became detached inside and fell down within itself, somehow they do not have it secured good at the top and the little plastic pieces broke off and fell down inside, I did not push on this or force it to happen, this area of the unit is poorly made. It's so unfortunate because I absolutely love this unit...

This lather machine was really close to being really good.I am a professional and I use hot lather a lot.The concept was really spot on. A warmer that has no real moving parts, virtually no place for leaks, uses a pre-mixed solution, and is easy to disassemble and clean!. It seemed as it took all the problems away.That said, it shouldn't be called a hot lather machine. It should be called a pretty warm lather machine.Clients have not necessarily complained, but you better make sure that this machine is close at hand to the client because the lather comes out just warm and cools quick!Great concept. Execution is wanting. Really hope they work on this and release a newer one that actually produces HOT lather.
