Will this work with xtool D1? 10W

You will need the IR laser module in order to do metal, but yes this will work. With that having been said you should watch a few videos on your xtool specific to metal not only to see the process but to get some ideas for what they are using (cleanup and all). Have a good one.

will this work with a diode laser with 5.5w output?

Our recommendation is 25 watts minimum for CO2 laser and 10 watts minimum for fiber laser. I encourage you to try out with your laser type and if it doesn’t work reach out to me and I will refund your money in full. And if does work then I will send you another one for Free if you share your settings going forward for other customers.

Does this work on brass?

It works on some variety/grades of the brass, Brass being good conductor of heat, you may have to slow down the speed at 100% power. But make sure brass doesnt  warp, it may happen if the metal is too thin. Also try to put a flat piece of wood which may help to contain the required heat. As its a combination of heat, frequency and wavelength etc. for it to work on metals. Good luck, don't hesitate to contact the manufacturer for their excellent tech support .

I have a 30 watt fiber laser, engraving on stainless steel and tungsten. should i use the same settings i normally use when engraving these metals ?

Fiber Laser:
Power =10 Watt 
Speed = 50 mm/sec
Q-Frequency 200-500 (500KHz gives the best result, But some fiber lasers only go up to 200 KHz)
Hatch or DPI  = 0.1 mm
