I had hip abductors surgery and needed to ice regularly. I have an expensive ice machine to use, but the pads were awkward and never right. I bought several different types and sizes of ice pads and this one worked the best. I can fit it where other pads are too large. Because of its length and narrow width, (I bought the 4.75 x 10.5), it also fits perfectly along the leg under the brace. It chills quickly, stays somewhat flexible and the cold lasts a long time. This has become my go to ice pad for my recovery process. I also find it helpful for draping across the top of my shoulder because it's not too wide or heavy.

I struggle a lot with anxiety especially as I'm trying to go to sleep at night, and an icepack on the chest often helps me relax. I love these ice packs because they're so flexible and thin that I can comfortable lay on my stomach with one under my chest (I'm a stomach sleeper). My only complaint is that they don't stay cold as long as hard ice packs, but I don't think that's a fault of this product and is instead just a reality of this type of ice pack.

For me, ice on an injury is just the ticket for decreasing inflammation and reducing pain... usually the pain goes away after a while of icing it with this product. I do the method I read about on the net that is popular with athletes. I move it around on my body where the pain seems to be speaking to me. I use one until it is cool and needs to go back into the freezer... where upon I take out the frosty one and use it the same way. I must advise to do as I do, find a small cloth that wraps the frosty compress and don't leave it on one place longer than directed. I believe that 15 minutes is the max suggested in the manufacturers info that comes with. I got these a year and a half ago to use on my broken shoulder... no reviews being written then!! ha. ha. couldn't even move my arm away from my body without excruciating pain. These units helped me heal naturally. I definitely recommend this product, both as to quality and as to price when you need to reduce pain or inflammation from an injury. I had MOHS surgery on my scalp December 2017 and some dental treatment that year,, too, that required icing. So, I used up the rather flimsy units that I got at the local Kroger's and needed something longer lasting. I bought these from Amazon and found they are durable and friendly to the touch. Since my wife had her full knee replacement almost two weeks ago, we have been trying all sorts of ice solutions and then discovered these ice packs. The advantages for us have been: (1) narrow enough that two bags fix along both sides of the knee - rather than one big heavy compress sitting on top of the knee; (2) even frozen, they are still flexible enough to bend around the knee and can be oriented as needed for pain; (3) they last about 20 minutes - about five minutes more than recommended by physical therapy ... and they freeze back up very quickly (generally in just over an hour); (4) they are small and light enough that they do not add pressure to the knee causing pain. The only negative we have is that while they ship in a nice tiestring bag - that bag is too thin for holding the frozen compress ... we are wrapping them in light towels which does the trick but expect to use the tiestring bags for storage. We have discarded the other attempts are are using these compresses exclusively - they are wonderful!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have owned a similar product for over 20 years, which I keep in my freezer. So handy to have when the need arrives. These gel bags can easily be shaped to fit the need. I was happy to find that this type of gel pack was still available - but if you have a great product that works, then you would have no need to get rid of it.
