Worth the money, if you like the way it looks - sturdy
I rarely write reviews because I expect a quality product at a good price. The OIAHOMY Industrial Bookshelf exceeded my expectations.First, the "not so good"... Some people might not like the way this shelf looks. I'm not a huge fan of the style and coloration of the "wood" but it's OK and many will like it.Now for the "neutral"... Some reviewers knocked this set of shelves because they had a hard time putting it together. While time consuming, I did not have many struggles with it. I bought two of these shelves and then a few weeks later bought a third so I've had some practice with assembling these and I provide a few (helpful?) hints. First, after getting the side rails bolted together, turn them up-side-down and put the bottom shelves and rods on first. After getting three shelves put on, turn the unit over to finish the job - a lot less bending over. Also, leave bolts just a bit loose and then tighten everything up once assembled. I made the mistake of tightening everything down as I went on my second unit and it made it much, much harder to assemble (there was no "wiggle room" or play and it was hard to line things up.)Now, for the good... There are adjustable feet on this so it is appropriate for old, un-level floors (like mine). BEWARE, many other shelving units at this price point do not have adjustable feet, but this one does.I needed a BOOK shelf... many other shelves at this price point are not book shelves, but are simply flimsy shelves with 50 or 60 pound ratings. These shelves have a 130 pound (each) rating, and thus you can pile books on them without worry. My units (largely thanks to the adjustable feet) are study, well constructed, able to hold LOTS of books, look good enough, and are not "tippy." I did not attach them to the wall but the hardware provided to do so looks adequate, should you want to do so.I have zero reservations about this recommendation and feel that this is a good produce and worth the money.

Elegant Bookshelf that can hold a lot!
The media could not be loaded. This has by far been one of my favorite bookshelves. Just look at how much it can hold (excuse the mess)!Height: I am 5’2” and it is just taller than meWeight: it is quite a heavy bookshelf and required the help of someone else for me to move it into a different roomBuild quality: it is sturdy and doesn’t move around unless I move the books off the shelvesFunctionality: there are five shelves that you can store things on from books to art to cubbies to knickknacks

Fantastic Bookshelf - Better than described!
Initially ordered this to put a 5 gallon fish tank on the top. However after receiving and putting up realized that the top shelf was slightly too high for that and ended up repurposing in our office. Glad we did though, because it's quite elegant and well put together! We got the 5 tier shelf and the highest tier is almost 5 feet. Measures about 30" across for the boards so takes up a good amount of wall space.Pros:- VERY sturdy. Seems like it would be able to hold quite a bit of weight on each shelf no problem. Seems to be due to the support bar under each shelf (pictured). Without that bar though not sure how strong the MDF wood is on its own.-Frame is powder coated black and excellent quality. The x-cross shapes on the sides give it slightly more personality than other bookshelves we saw. Also has a larger X cross on the back for strength.- Wood (even though it's MDF) has a slight roughness to it that makes it more real. Color is good and consistent - fake grain looks real.- Putting it together was very easy, took maybe 25 minutes.-Depth and length of each shelf was great so you can put quite a few things of different sizes on each shelf.Cons:- Frame on each side is in two pieces (for shipping). So each piece was not 5 feet tall, and when putting together didn't line up perfectly or seamlessly. Still hard to tell it's two pieces but could have been slightly better fitting. Overall can't complain a lot for the price or quality!Very impressed, may buy a second for our basement!

Installation tips
When you get done assembling this bookshelf you'll have a very sturdy and functional piece.I did find some quirks in the assembly process. In the first step of attaching the top half to the bottom half, make sure that the 4 holes that the cross supports attach to are on the same side. The directions don't alert you to this detail. You have a 50% chance of getting it right even if you don't check. In Mercy's review she said two of the holes for the cross support were missing. Possibly true, also possible that the top half needed to be disassembled and rotated 180 degrees. I was unlucky and had to reassemble mine just when I thought I was close to done. The metal parts of this contraption are pretty soft. They will be plenty sturdy enough, but everything from the screws to tools to support bars are made of cheap metal. This means you should not attempt to tighten anything very hard - it will strip. The structure will be plenty strong with just gentle tightening.Get yourself a longer and harder 5/32" hex wrench. The cheap wrench they include degrades and starts to slip very quickly. One of my wooden shelves was lacking a hole. I tried to use a wood screw instead but the "wood" is hollow and doesn't work with a wood screw. If you have any missing holes in the shelves don't worry about them. The shelves themselves aren't providing any structural support, and they will sit in place just fine with a missing screw or two.I am thoroughly pleased with the end result. For the price, don't expect high grade stainless steel or aluminum. It's extremely sturdy and looks fine. I expect it will live much longer than I will.
