Install with 2 people. If you've never installed one, watch a video because the instructions suck.
With 2 people it was easy enough, though the instructions wasn't really good, the diagram for the vehicle was so lightly printed you could hardly see it in any light condition. That being said, if you're needing help there's tons of videos of how to install a hitch. Seems like a good quality hitch and I'd recommend it for the price point. No fancy add ons or anything but a good paint finish and quality work put into it.

Def recommend this product.
Installed on 97 ranger step side, did have to drill holes (2) but install was smooth. Helps to have a hand to hold it up while installing or floor Jack. Awesome quality. Had it for a couple months now, no issues at all.

Fits my 2001 ford ranger perfectly. The supplied instructions could be a bit better. Took me 40 minutes not counting the trip to the auto supply. Here are a couple of hints:1. Make sure you have an 18mm socket. 3/4 is too big and 5/8 too small. Never used one before so had to make a special trip after trying every socket in my tool box.2. Lower the spare tire and get it out of the way.3. The instructions say to remove the bolts holding the J bracket. ??? Well the J bracket is the bracket holding the ends of the bumper.4. Remove and discard the rear most bumper bolts.5. Loosen the front bumper bolts so that you can remove the nut fitting for the bolts in step 4. They are trapped in between the bumper and frame.6. Have a helper to hold the receiver in place. It's heavy and awkward. That's it!

Good buy for a mechanically inclined person.
Was a good install. I’m a retired mechanic and it took me about an hour to install. There was a step that wasn’t explained in the instructions. Bumper support needs to be temporary removed on one end for installation.

A great quality hitch
Fit my 2001 Ford Ranger XLT like a glove! Sturdy build, good welds, quality fasteners, and a straightforward installation procedure made this easy for me to install the hitch by myself. I'd highly recommend adding this to anyone looking to put a hitch on their Ranger!

Installed OK, but customer service is ignoring me
I received the Reese 44101 hitch OK, the box was destroyed in transit, but I can't fault the company for that. The hitch installed under my truck OK, seems to fit well and looks like it will be heavy duty and can work on the loads I will be hauling. But I didn't receive the Hitch Plug Cover that was advertised to come with the hitch. I used the customer service form on the Reese website - more than a week has past. No word on addressing my plug.If this is how they deal with customer complaints, I would be in trouble if the hitch had issues during installation.Get it together Reese - read the complaints submitted to your website, and respond!Update will be done if I hear from them.(Five days later) Customer support says they are out of stock on the plugs, and will send me one when they are back. Slow response, but at least they answered.
