Very interesting life story, and well told. Really made me think about life in general. Especially loved the explanation of souls and earth.

Classic
This book was written before Edgar Cayce's death by a family friend. It contains a lot of information obtained directly from the Cayce family and others. It also includes the author's experience with Cayce's work. That's the good side. The downside is that, like any biography obtained from friends, it reflects what the author was told, not the complete story. For instance, Cayce never told Sugrue much about his childhood. "The Sleeping Prophet" had a little more background but "The American Prophet" delves quite deeply into Cayce's childhood. As a first hand account, however, it is worth the read.

Still reading the book, but subject matter is interesting, and the price was excellent.

Are you physic too?
I've heard many things about Mr Cayce but had never read a biography of his life. The story is one of anyone in the early 1900s, until he hypnotizes himself and starts giving health remedies to people that cure their ailments. Struggling to be honorable and true to himself without being taken advantage of, he eventually fulfills his dream but it cost him dearly. It is a fascinating read, hard to put down. I had no idea he helped people all over the world. Highly recommended reading.

A guide to your life
Edgar Cayce examines the spiritual world like no one has. Documented readings of hundreds of people near and far away from him Edgar was able to tell them what was failing in their health when doctors were stumped and could not find it. He is the most highly documented healer and physic of his time. You really must read this book.

Most special thing I have ever read!
When I read this book about 20 years ago, it imediately became my favorite! If you want to know if life makes sense, or how, I would start here.I was especially impressed with how all the "subjects" that are discussed, beautifully collide to one. After this everything seemed to come together in my life.Such a beautiful plan

For me this book opens your mind to what it ...
For me this book opens your mind to what it is all supposed to be about. Self-development through free will and the existence of a greater reality / realities which some are able to tap into. This is a biography about one such man.

The Sleeping Prophet .
An excellent and true account of the life of EDGAR CAYCE , this is the most captivating read and tells us how the astonishingly files where under hypnosis were compiled for the betterment of mankind, I heartily recommend that read

Very enlightening.
After trying to read Many Mansions I was lucky to come across There is a River which I found far more reader friendly. An absolutely fascinating book about an extraordinary man who helped so many, often at the expense of his own health and well-being.My only criticism would be the individual case histories at the end which, I must admit, I did tend to skip through. I also found further books of interest which I have subsequently downloaded but have yet to read.
