Very impressed
Been a fan of Nixon watches but its a been a minute since I've had one. The Ripley does not dissappoint. Truly a gorgeous watch. Even my dog loves it. Its a big piece and you would expect it to weigh a ton but it is very lightweight. Havent read the instructions to zero out the altimeter and I think the thermometer function would be effected by your body temp. That being said, I cant stop looking at this watch. Peeps stopping me at the vet and in Home Depot to ask me about it. Love it!

Nixon watches can be a mixed bag
Simply my favorite Nixon. The silver against the black band is awesome. Lighter than it looks, the digital readout is easy to see in daylight, all day compy. Been on my watch.. list for months finally pulled the trigger.

Okay, but could have been better!
The media could not be loaded. I liked the look of this watch and was excited about the functionality. I will say it is an attractive watch and the size is perfect, not too big or too small. It is 47mm but wears small (I have 6.5 inch wrists and it fits perfect). It is versatile in terms of looks, works dressed up or casual. The reason for 3 star review however is for the price there are just better options out there and I expected more.Things that were lacking to me include the following:* No hourly chime option (which is really odd on a digital watch)* Only one alarm. . . which is fine but other watches at half this cost offer you up to 5* The backlight is not very bright. When you have digital values displayed it works fine, but if you are in city mode you can't see the watch hands* No lume on the watch hands or markers, so you can't see them in the dark at all (even with the backlight)* Movement seems junky. For example when you pull out the crown the second hand moves back.* Adventure mode is lacking. Altimeter and Temperature are cool but you can't keep them on the watch face at all times. After 12 hours it will remove them.*Features are odd. For example in Adventure mode you have a chronograph. . . . and then they give you a chronograph mode as well. I which they would have given moon phase, barometer or something different vs. having the chronograph in two different modes.* Digital Display is hard to read unless you are in ideal lighting. If you want this watch just because of it's appearance then you will like it. If you are excited about the functions on the watch, you will wish you had bought something else. I attached some images and a video that will show you the features. I hope this review helps.

Don't get it wet!
After taking a shower with it, the numbers quit displaying the time and date.I'm not sure what happened but now it has moisture inside the bezel. This is very disappointing due to the fact that I have a hard time seeing the date on most watches and this one was nice and bright. I hope this is enough info for you.

The Watch's reputation precedes it.
I'm a watch guy. All of my watches server some function the others don't, even if it's an admitted vintage something. The Ripley has a nice set of toys to list after, but only if you need them. Climb, hike, get to you really need the altimeter, thermometer, compass? Then this is an interesting choice. I no longer need that equipment on my watch. To get a decent shit at the temperature, you remove the watch, place it on a flat surface for about 15 minutes, and give it a look. I just don't need a thermometer that badly. Do you? The gesture that hooked me, was the ability to turn the digital info on the watch gave off, then looking simply analog. That's right, I thought there might be a time when I want to turn the digital characters in the background off so that people wouldn't know they were there. Sigh. I decided that if I, or anyone really cares that much about this watches "City Mode" - strictly analog), then you need to think about the weight you put on others opinions. The chronometers are great, I have in on other watches. The night light is when the digital Data in the background illuminates with the push of a button, unfortunately it's so dim that I really had to squint when viewing the watch in darkness. It looks good, feels good, and Nixon had the sense to put the crown on the left, so meeting of a doorway and the crown on your watch won't be the end of your watch. Bottom line: it's a cool toy that I just can't justify spending another couple hundred bucks on.I don't NEED this watch. Ask yourself the same question.
