Be like Susan
Before we get started I would just like to give a shoutout to Susan Graham, not only did she provide one of the most thorough and thoughtful reviews on Amazon, but also did it like a stone cold boss with a picture that says “I’m not gonna let the New Mexico desert keep me away from my gardening”. Susan, I want to be like you so I tried to re-create your pose in the shirt that I got.I agree with Susan, the shirt is great and the little pockets with Velcro are surprisingly useful for sunglasses and AirPods. I got an L but it was a little big, but I dig that for sweltering July hikes in Southern California. 5 star rating for this SPF shirt, and a 5 star rating to Susan. When the world is full of Karen’s, we should all be like Susan.PS: I don’t know Susan personally, but I am a fan :DS

I feel outdoorsier now!
I ordered this shirt after a trip to a state park convinced me that I'm totally outdoorsy. I'm more of an "outdoorsy in that I like getting drunk on patios" person, but I aspire to be more outdoorsy. I didn't wear it for like 3 months, but then I wore it kayaking and working on my aunt's farm, and then hiking in the Olympic mountains. It does fit kinda big, but it's beyond me why you'd want to wear a form-fitting shirt to hike or kayak. I'm really impressed by the quality of construction, the rubbery buttons seem indestructible. When I kayaked in it, I was pleased that little splashes dried up or ran off so quickly I didn't feel wet. The vent in the back is awesome and really helps you feel cool, especially with the white color. After the kayaking I wore it to pick and wash vegetables. I was FILTHY. To the point where my aunt felt bad that I was wearing my new shirt and offered to replace it because she was sure I'd ruined it. I said, nah, it's for outdoor stuff anyway, who cares if it's a little stained, I'll look more legit, like I've worn it more than once. I washed it and it came 100% clean, not a trace of the massive amount of dirt, along with beet and chard juices I got on it.I wore it a couple weeks later to go hiking. It was the perfect choice. It kept me cool and dry on the hot lower part of the climb, and my phone (GS 7, the regular one not the explodey one), a little cash, i.d. and keys fit in the pockets so I didn't have to put anything in a backpack. I love that the pockets shut so securely. It has a little loop you could attach a carabiner to under one of the pockets, but I didn't really need anything dangling off my boob. I unrolled the sleeves and buttoned them up and layered it under my windbreaker for the cold, windy summit - I was glad to have sweated into this on the climb and had it evaporate so I wasn't wet and cold. It's super versatile and practical. I now get why dudes wear fishing shirts to work sometimes, this is so comfortable.

Functional and Fun UPF 30 Shirt
This is the second Columbia Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirt I have purchased this month, and I have ordered a third. For years I have looked for sun protective clothes, and never found any for any price that I was willing to wear more than once or twice. When the first one of these shirts arrived (in Collegiate Navy), I knew this was a shirt I would wear regularly and immediately ordered one in Isla from a different supplier. I live in the very sunny high desert of New Mexico, and am a photographer and gardener. This spring I was treated for a small skin cancer and some other precancerous changes. My dermatologist has stressed hats, sunscreen, and sun protective clothing. COLUMBIA Sportswear Omni-Shade UPF 30 has the Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation. I can put on sunscreen in the morning and not have to reapply it every two hours in the areas the shirt covers. This is a functional shirt with two pockets that close with Velcro. The sleeves can be worn long with the cuffs buttoned, or rolled up as shown. It washes easily and dries quickly. It has a much-appreciated back vent. I would consider the shirt in Medium too large if I planned to wear it buttoned up with nothing else. But I will use the shirt as a layering piece to throw on when I go out of doors, over tank tops or tee shirts in the summer, and warmer turtlenecks in the winter. This shirt is what I have been looking for for years, and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. I like the colors I have so far (Collegiate Navy and Isla) and would have every color if I could afford that. The hat in the picture is the Joseni hat in beige JOSENI Women Floppy Sun Beach Straw Hats Wide Brim Packable Summer Cap (Beige) . It is not UPF rated, but it is a cute hat that I'll wear for brief outings such as running errands in town or going to lunch with friends.I'll wear the Columbia Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirt anywhere and everywhere I go in daylight hours. Five Stars for a product that is both functional and cute.Edited July 22, 2017: This summer I have purchased a total of four of Columbia's Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirts in different colors: Isla, Tiki Pink, Collegiate Navy, and Fossil. I purchased the first only because my dermatologist strongly suggested I wear sun protective clothing. These have become my favorite shirts - lightweight, wash and dry easily, great range of colors, sleeves that can be worn down or rolled up, plus handy, useful pockets. They are great for active women who are out of doors and want a little extra sun protection. Perfect for layering.

Size large is a size large.
I exhausted myself looking at all the reviews for Columbia sun protective shirts. "Size runs too small...too large....true to size...sleeves too long....fitted....relaxed....too small in bust area....etc etc etc. How can one review state that they wear a perfect size large in every single shirt but this one, and that this one fits 2 sizes too large...small...whatever???I wear a large. I bought the large. It fits like a large. End of discussion.

Very Versatile
Took this to South Africa where it was 28 during the day and 0 at night. I could wear it with the sleeves rolled up and open with a a tank top under it be comfortable but not burn and then do everything up and add layers to keep warm when the temp dropped. It was also great when riding through bush because it didn't snag on things. It also washed and dried quickly.

Excelente

Fits very large
I love Columbia. I have another Columbia shirt that is absolute perfect. And it’s a medium. So I ordered a medium in this shirt. I love the shirt but it fits like a large. If you’re going to order one size down. I like the shirt I’m just disappointed in the sizing. I wish Columbia would be consistent with their sizing.Signed disappointed but I guess I’ll have to make do.
