Quick way to learn Chinese vocabulary
I bought this book in order to learn a significant amount of vocabulary as quickly and easily as possible. The two things I like most about it, is that the vocabulary is written in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, and that it uses short, simple words that capture either the essential meaning of each word or its most common meaning. My only complaint is that sometimes the definitions are so simple that it becomes ambiguous. One of the characters has the definition "match." The question is: what kind of match—the thing used to start a fire, or something you compete in? Also, there are a lot of characters that have the same definitions. And the problem with this, is that there are a lot of words with similar meanings, but there are subtle differences between those meanings—and the definitions do not contain that information. Other than that, if you just want to get through the list as quickly and painlessly as possible, this is probably one of the better resources to use.

Loads of errors
I found this book while researching HSK vocabulary lists and thought it might be convenient and good to have. However good this book may be, how much trust should a student place in a text that misspells the word "vocabulary" in the head to levels 2-6? Haven't looked in depth yet at the characters, but mistakes are readily evident in the Pinyin and another annoying detail is the weird font anomaly in which the letter underlying the third tone is oddly lightly printed. I have seen this in my own efforts to reproduce third tone accurately from various websites, but it is particularly annoying here. I mean, how much additional work would have been involved in proofreading this volume?

Works best with a Kindle Fire.
The Kindle version works best with a Kindle Fire since it allows the book to be highlighted and notes to be created. By selecting the characters, an expanded definition and word usage can be displayed if the device is also connected to a WiFi. There are a few errors in the pinyin. I was not able to highlight or create notes when using a Kindle Reader on my lap top computer.

It is fine for getting a basic idea of the vocabulary
There are several mistakes with some of the characters in this book. It is fine for getting a basic idea of the vocabulary, and one advantage of the book is the fact that you can see the traditional characters next to the simplified characters. However, I cannot recommend this book highly because of the mistakes with some of the characters.

Nice guide for HSK tests
Very good book to help daily practice of words required for HSK tests. However its a challenge to understand the sentences once the same words are pieced together. Looking for tricks and tools to master that part

Two Stars

One Star Deducted for Poorly Edited Pinyin
Four stars for value and organization. The Simplified and Traditional Characters together with Pinyin pronunciation and simple English translations make it a great tool for vocabulary review and acquisition. However, it appears riddled with mistakes. In a 10 minute perusal after buying the Kindle edition I noticed mistakes, whether typos or misspellings, in the Pinyin. I saw enough of them in that short time to judge this book is NOT a RELIABLE guide to Standard Mandarin pronunciation.

Great consolidation of all the required vocab for HSK 1-6
I am using this book as part of my preparation for HSK 3 and 4. It is very basic and serves to give the reader an overview of all the vocab in one place. Good thing is that it covers both, simplified as well as traditional, plus pinyin. At times, some translations to English are not completely accurate and could be a bit more detailed. Some of the pinyin are also incorrect. This should not be the case for such a book, as it made me insecure of the accuracy in general and whether I am learning the correct pronunciation or not for all the other characters. Overall though, I was glad to finally have found a book with all the characters in one work and can thus recommend it.

A practical reference book to carry about
I did not expect much more than I got, as I was looking for a small booklet to put on my bag and carry around. There are some mistakes, though, and considering that it is only a word list pasted from Hanban's lists, a bit more care should have been taken. Also, since it is a reference book that wears out quickly, a stronger binding might have been used.I appreciated very much the fact that also traditional characters are included, as they help remembering and are more beautiful than simplified characters. All in all, I am not dissatisfied: I just hope taht my suggestions will improve future customers' reading experience.

HSK VOCABULARY
Really a good book, it helps for the preparation for the HSK from 1 to 6 levels, is easy to find the required vocabulary, as has the list of vocabulary in traditional and simplified caracters, inspite of the translation in english. The book is not big, we can take it everywhere.
