Smart design, I like how simple and small it is.
Smart design, I like how simple and small it is. Works great around leg but the tablet will lay flat. Works best on 10 inch or bigger tablet in portrait mode, smaller tablets must be in landscape to stay connected.

Simplest, smartest solution
I’m a student pilot getting equipment I need as I progress through flight training. Using paper and traditional kneeboard at first, I upgraded to using an iPad Mini a month ago. I saw this clip as an option when looking at iPad kneeboard options, and am glad I chose what looked like the simplest, most cost effective solution because it works perfectly. It’s not bulky. The iPad is able to support itself without the need for a board behind it. I use an Apple Pencil to write with so no need for other pockets or holders. This fits the bill very well for my needs.

Good
Good little “knee pad” for the iPad mini. It’s a pretty basic design, but effective. Keeps my iPad on my leg while flying so I don’t have to worry about it. 4/5 stars bc the metal pieces pop on and off the fabric when not suppose to. Also pretty expensive.

It works pretty darn well!
I use this to hold my iPad while I fly and it has been great. The clasps hold my iPad but also offer a quick and easy release. The Velcro holds snug enough around my leg as well. I have had the clasps fall off when I’m adjusting my iPad…slightly annoying, however that same feature means that you can adjust the clasps. Overall it hasn’t been a problem really.

OK, with a few issues
I got this for starting cross countries and I didn't want anything too bulky, but now after several solos and cross country flights I find myself wanting more and finding the issues with this product. Pros: -Compact, easy to pack -Easy to setup Cons: -Doesn't hold my iPad very well, with the clips holding the sides the tablet will slowly slide down through the clips towards my hip, so you either need to have a case on your tablet that is grippy and/or be sure to attach the leg strap further up on your thigh so that as the tablet moves it will hit your hip before coming out of the clips. -Twice now I have had one of the clips come off of the leg strap while flying. The slot in the clip allows it to be put onto the strap but also has allowed it to fall off into the floor during flight. my fix has been to put a piece of duct tape around that part of the clip so the leg strap is unable to come out. -I wish it had a place to hold a pen/pencil -The clips get in the way of a couple buttons along the side of the foreflight app, depending where you place them. Overall its a decent cheap option, I'm going to purchase a kneeboard with a pen slot and a slot for a notepad though and keep this one as a possible minimalistic use in the future or maybe for a passenger.

Works well, but could use a few tweaks
UPDATE: So I bought the AppStrap pad things on their own, which came with a strip of fuzzy tape to stick them to. I have the Smart Keyboard Folio on my iPad Pro, so I just use this kneeboard clip on the keyboard and sandwich the AppStrap “pillows” between keyboard/folio front and the iPad. Works like a charm! I had been avoiding getting any sort of knee board because I didn’t see the reason for it until one landing lesson my iPad kept trying to take a dive for the floor. Picked up one of these and it helped tremendously, as I wasn’t struggling with balancing the iPad on my leg while trying to work the rudder. My one complaint is that because the iPad is kept flat, I get terrible screen glare without something to prop the viewing angle up. I have a Paperlike screen protector on my iPad to make writing on it more enjoyable, but the downside is that glare obscures the entire screen for me. Would be ideal of they could provide a pillow sort of thing like they have for the AppStrap to alter the viewing angle, that would make this PERFECT!
