Paw love
I love these car seats. I already had two. They are sturdy and install easily into the vehicle. I did put an extra cushion in to allow my pups to be a little higher. The tether secures them and keeps them safely inside there seat. I just can’t say enough good things about these seats. I also purchased one for a good friend that is getting a new pup. I wanted her to have the best too. If I could change anything it would be the cushion. But it’s no big deal I sew so I made them a custom cushion.

Wonderful product. Secure, sturdy, comfortable.
These are wonderful. So incredibly sturdy. And the seat belt goes all the way through the chair and passes through the end of the strap attaching to the harness too. Dogs are a secure as they could possibly be, from either flying or being crushed in an accident. As someone said, the strap may seem short but it’s meant to be attached to a harness and not a collar. It’s perfect. And the dogs love them. You will see in one of pictures they’re wrestling over who gets to be in it before Ive had a chance to unpack the second one or get rid of the Amazon box! And I like that they lift the dogs up in the car. My smaller one loves to look out the window but couldn’t see out the window.

Size well-suited for dachshund: 24 lbs, 32 long
Our dachshund, Mojo, insists on sitting on our lap when driving, which is uncomfortable for everyone involved and unsafe. I bought this animal safety seat because it seemed big enough (it was) and its height is boosted so that Mojo can see out the window. Mojo was noncommittal at first about riding in the safety seat, but he became totally inured when he realized he could sit and nap comfortably while riding along in the car. The family is happy to have unloaded 24 pounds of dachshund flesh from our laps. Mojo now rides along with us much more often, especially since the seat is fairly easy to mount/dismount, although the process is by nature awkward. Mojo weighs 24 pounds and measures 32 inches from the base of his tail to the tip of his nose.

Comfortable for the dog
This is easy to put together and latches in place pretty easily. But as is often the case, no common sense on where the opening is! It should have a lower side on the end that faces the seat! I also wish the standing platform was down further; the dog is elevated too high and it only has about six inches of edge, so if you have to stop suddenly, the dog will tumble off the seat and down between the seat onto the floor. That's not very safe! Maybe this isn't a problem for a very small dog, or one that just sits there, but mine stands up, often looking out the back window, or side window. The padding tends to slide around too, making it hard for him to brace himself and not fall out of the seat. It is well-made, but would be safer if the platform was lowered so there would be a higher edge to keep the dog from tumbling out.

So good I’ve bought it twice!
I first bought this product over 5 years ago - one for each of my two pugs (20-25 lbs each). Fast forward 5 years and they’re still in good condition - the fabric has obviously seen better days, but the booster seat itself is in great condition. I decided I wanted to try something new for my dogs (mostly so I could stop climbing over the seat of my chair to get the second one in and out in my tiny garage). I tried the seatbelt things (no good because they flew around and slid) and after searching everywhere to see if anyone had a better product, I ended up purchasing two more of these only so that the fabric on my current ones could be replaced (if you can sew, you could probably do that yourself but I can’t sew and don’t have time to learn). I’ve also been in a couple close call almost car accidents over the years where I’ve had to turn quickly or slam on the breaks suddenly - both times the dogs barely noticed what was going on at all. They have enough room to move around the seat (and occasionally one figures out how to jump out but she’s not going anywhere and it’s my own fault for giving her extra leeway with the buckle) but they are completely safe and able to look out the window. I usually add an extra blanket to them because my dogs are old (11 and 14) and they like to be extra cozy on long road trips - and they love having a little ledge to rest their heads on. They seem to love their car seats and I love that they’re so safe in the car.

My Second Purchase
I bought an original seat about 7 years ago for my Shih Tzu. It has been working great. Some of the liner material finally wore out, but I discovered I could order a replacement directly from the company. Anyway, I added another Shih Tzu puppy to the family last summer, so after trying a smaller seat, which worked when he was smaller, I bought this second seat for him. I should have gotten this one from the beginning, but I wanted to save some money. Well, it was a mistake. Now he's got lots of room. He loves to watch out the windows. It's an excellent product.

follow instructions!
It is exactly as promised and very useful. I didn't put it together correctly and needed a rubber mallet to take it apart! but the walls are made of very durable heavy plastic and can take a lot of abuse. It is very sturdy. The clasp is heavy duty and safe. My tiny dog's harness rings fit through the clasp. Be sure to use a dog harness not just the dog collar. Very sturdy. I put it in the back seat of the Honda Element (SUV) as the front seat was shaped incorrectly for the Safety seat. Better to put it somewhere that it doesn't have to be taken in and out often as it take a bit of time to remove the safety seat and put it back again - it isn't that awkward - easier than a child's car seat!

Promising idea, flawed execution
The media could not be loaded. Got this seat for a dog who is a nervous traveller in the car. This seat is unlikely to help with that and I'm going to have to train him to use it, because the cushion slides around on the base - the top of the cushion is polar fleece, not Sherpa as advertised, in the bottom of the cushion is a very cheap sort of vinyl and next to the polar fleece of the liner it slides around like crazy. They could easily have put some grip in here somewhere, but as soon as I hit the brakes in the car the whole inner cushion is going to slide forward. The whole reason I got this car seat was so the dog wasn't sliding around, so that's very disappointing. Also it arrived with a broken zipper, shown in the video, not a dealbreaker but really frustrating for the price.Still feel like it was my best option but I'm going to have to make alterations to make it feel more secure for the dog.I do like that although the dog will slide around when the car turns it won't go flying through the car if I need to slam on the brakes because there's a pet anchor that attaches to the seatbelt, and I love the seatbelt pass through - although based on how the thing is assembled, and the fact that it's made of plastic, I suspect if I'm ever in an accident this seat will fall apart almost instantly on impact and I just need to hope the dog is safe because of the tether. If by some miracle the dog loves it or gets used to it quickly, I will update the review to maybe three stars tops.
