I was impressed as soon as I opened the parcel from Amazon and saw the packaging of this item. The matte box comes in a sturdy black box that protects it well and will stand up to being carried in your kit bag or transported in a case with your other rig components. Sliding off the lid reveals the matte box, adaptor rings and rod arm held securely in precision cut foam. I can see myself using the foam from inside the box in a Peli case or similar, saving the need to pluck and pull tricky shapes. I can just take out a rectangle and drop the foam in as it is.The matte box attaches using rings which screw into the filter thread of your lens. You then place the matte box over the ring and tighten a screw to lock it in place. It's a simple process and once in place, the matte box feels very secure. If you prefer, there is also an arm to allow you to mount the matte box to a standard 15mm rod.The matte box is sturdy and solid, I was very impressed with the quality of the construction. And I was also impressed with how light it is! It really doesn't add any noticeable weight to your rig or make it unbalanced and front heavy.The hood of the matte box is deep and so will be very effective at reducing stray light into the lens which can affect the contrast of your image. The top flag is huge and will ensure that you can remove any unwanted flaring from light sources above the camera. The top flag is locked in place with a simple lever. Loosening the lever allows you to adjust the flag up and down as required before locking it in place. The flag has a range of motion which allows you to drop it down across the front of the matte box to protect the lens between shots.The matte box has a slot for one 4” x 5.65" filter at the front. This is an industry standard size in the pro-filming world, but be aware that these filters can be more expensive that the usual consumer or prosumer square filters.If you are looking to add a matte box to your rig because of how it looks then you won't be disappointed as this looks fabulous. More importantly, if you are adding a matte box as a lens hood to improve your image quality and to allow the use of a filter such as an ND then the Tilta is an ideal choice.I am very pleased with my purchase of the Tilta matte box. All in all this is a really quality matte box and a steal for a little over £100.

This product is well built and of good quality. I have mounted this with supplied rail support for maximum security, the top of the Matte Box has various additional mounting points. The days of a four piece barn door system are over. This simple system is easy to attach, is robust and has some well made step rings that allow for the compatibility of a variety of lenses. My only complaint would be the price which is a little steep for what the product actual is. Overall a nice addition to my kit.

Really well built, but no way, other than rotating the unit 90 degrees, to prevent low light coming in from the side. Likewise using gradient filters, maybe a 4x4 adapter would be a good idea to allow use of smaller filters, especially on a camera using M43 lenses. The low weight and price good selling points.

I've spent the last 10-years fighting with a Cokin Z-Pro holder, gaffer tape and cinefoil whenever I've wanted to use my Schneider NDs on a shoot because decent matte boxes were just way out of my price range. I've heard a lot of great things about the Tilta Mini Matte Box lately, so I decided to give it a try and I'm definitely impressed.It mounts onto the filter thread of the lens and comes with adapters for 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm. I only use the 77mm one, but it's nice that it comes with an 82mm for those big Sigma Art lenses. The box holds down firmly onto the adapter, the filters slide smoothly into the holder and lock in very well, and the lock for the flag on top locks and unlocks easily (and the flag doubles up as filter protection when you want to pack it away).I'm glad I finally decided to take the plunge and ditch the Cokin holder. Definitely recommended!

Avoid! This is horribly over priced compared to the small rig version, the way this thing holds filters is aweful, terrible design, wish I could return it, I absolutely hate this product! Wish there was 0 stars

Decided to write a rare review as there are few things I wish I knew before purchasing that no-one had mentioned in any review, mostly relating to what filters can fit inside on the mount threads as opposed to the outer 4×5.65 filter aperture.The kit is supplied with four different sized adaptors, 67mm (takes 67mm filter), 72mm (takes 72mm filter) , 77mm (also takes 72mm filter oddly) and 82mm (takes 82mm filter). All except 82mm have the threads inside the adaptor so you may find yourself needing to use step up / down rings to mount your filter of choice if like me you tend to buy filters for the largest lens you own.This thing is tiny and no photo can prepare you for how small it is, it's dwarfed by my FOTGA swing out Matte box and something to consider is the actual size of filters that actually can be used internally. If using ND's up to 82mm will fit, if using Variable ND's however the largest I could fit was 77mm and my 77mm CPL/VND combi filter doesn't fit at allWith that said this is a great little product that I'll be using more often than my larger Matte box due to it's size and weight, I can finally use a matte box on my gimbal now which is awesome.

It definitely was a lot smaller than expected, and the screw keeping locking it to the lens adapter could be a bit tighter.Feels like it's not sturdy enough.But fairly cheap, and will always impress the clients lol.

Consegna Amazon puntualissima. Articolo leggero, perfetto, nessun punto negatvo. Esteticamente è una bellezza per gli occhi e piacevolissimo al tatto. Montato sulla GH5, viene bilanciato perfettamente anche su gimbal non estremamente potenti visto che il matte box è davvero una piuma. Se acquistate il matte-box x usare i filtri rettangolari dedicati, fate attenzione però: i tiffen 4x5,65" (da inserire nell'apposita slitta) non sono economici. Costano cinque/sei volte questo supporto!

The media could not be loaded.  I have been using this matte box with my GH5s and Sigma 18-35 1.8 lens, and it works great. I purchased it as I was looking for a matte box I can carry in my camera bag, which isn’t really possible with the larger more expensive options from other providers. This works great and fits in the bag perfectly. The body of the matte box is also a little flexible, so it won’t snap under pressure.Fits a 4x5.65 filter perfectly, and there is a small knob to stop the filter from falling out once it’s been inserted.I used the 82mm adapter ring, and I assume the other rings work just as well.Overall very satisfied with this very well priced matte box from Tilta!

My first matte box, I'm very happy! I wanted one for a while and this one seemed like a good option.It's so easily put on, very well made, has 4 adaptors for different size filters. and it looks great, make my rig more pro :)I highly recommend this awesome matte box.
