Whether you shoot a handgun, shotgun, rifle, black powder or some special application Dewey has the right cleaning rod for you! Dewey offers Nylon Coated Rods, Stainless Steel and Brass Rods as well. Their ball bearing handle design has been one of the most recognizable in the industry and is sought after all over the world by all types of shooters. The Nylon Coated rods will not allow foreign material to embed itself into the rod, damaging your barrel while in use. Notes: Dewey strongly recommends NOT using TM Solution by Sinclair International. It will attack the nylon coating on the rod.

This rod is awesome, I will be buying other calibers
I just got my Dewey cleaning rod tonight. i bought a 17hmr a few weeks ago and have wanted to take it out but I was waiting until I could clean it. My current cleaning rods were too large to fit so I looked into buying a new rod just for my 17. The Dewey came highly rated, however, I wasn't sure if the price tag was worth it. Not that the Dewey is expensive, just that the Hoppes kit is half the price for a full kit. I decided to give it a try anyway. I cleaned my rife immediately after opening the box and was absolutely thrilled by how it performed. It was rigid (unlike my multi section rods) and the nylon coating made it glide in and out of the barrel without any marring. Not only has this inspired me to buy more of these, I will be looking to upgrade other components of my kit to Dewey products.

Good value!
While cleaning the barrel of our air guns is important! (When necessary) Equally as important is not to damage the barrel in the process! Useing this one piece rod reduces that possibility. The nylon coating aids in protecting your barrel during the cleaning. That alone makes it a good value. Keep in mind cleaning an air rifle is mostly not needed in those that shoot less than 900 fps. And those shooting 1000 fps or more clean when necessary. Accuracy falling off would be an indication.

Works great.
Nice cleaning rod but for my 17 Hornet Savage rifle, It could have been a bit longer.

Get rid of the sectional one rod fits all that came with your first cleaning kit. Get one piece Dewey Rods
Dewey Rods are well made and safe for your firearms. This one has a Teflon or nylon coating as a layer of protection in your barrel. Because of its diameter, most brushes, jags, mops and etc. will not fit. You will need to order Dewey's 17A Adapter to convert the rods 5-40 threads to standard 8-32.So, why not just by a .22 caliber rod that is already threaded 8-32? Simply because while the larger diameter rod will go through a .22 caliber barrel, you will probably scrape some of the coating off which will then fall into the action. Not a good thing. For this reason the .177 diameter rod is perfect for cleaning your .22 caliber hand gun. These are available in several lengths. I find the 11" version works well with longer barreled guns and allows the cleaning rod to be used from the chamber end (you should always avoid cleaning from the muzzle end if at all possible). This length works well with the Ruger Mark III's with the six inch barrel. No matter whether you are cleaning a rifle or a pistol, you want a one piece rod. Don't wait until you break that cheap sectional rod off in the barrel of a favorite gun.Oh, and last but not least! Always make sure your firearm is unloaded before you start to clean it.Good firearms deserve good tools to keep them working for a lifetime.

Not sure how to rate this. So far, ...
Not sure how to rate this. So far, I have tried two thicknesses of cleaning patches. The small cotton ones are too thick to run through the barrel. The paper-like ones tear. Maybe there is a properly sized .17 cleaning patch that I need to buy.

Cleaning Rod works perfectly
the 0.177 Cal. rod is exactly what I needed to clean my pellet gun. It is well designed and sturdily built.

Great cleaning rod.
These cleaning rods are much better than those cheap aluminum or brass rods. Unless you need a multi-piece rod these are the way to go.
