good book
Made DSM5 less complicated. The breakdown of the 8 spectrums, and the cartoon characters, helped to study for my LCSW.

Outstanding book for a number of major reasons and purposes
Fantastic title. Buser uses an economy of words and ideas to convey, in a light and witty way, complex ideas wedding Jungian/psychoanalytic core concepts with the APA jargon of the DSM-V. I found out about this book through Buser being interviewed on a favorite podcast of mine, Shrink Rap Radio, where he talks extensively about his work and this book. As he says, it is a great companion to new and old therapists transitioning to the new edition, as well as a diagnostic primer to a depth psychological mode of thinking about pathology. The archetypal personality cartoons he offers were an excellent model for me to adapt to a teenage DBT group I was leading. They enjoyed and really got these concepts as a way to introduce a personality theory to justify treatment, and introduce pathology in a neutral, non-blaming fashion to clients, especially young ones. I cannot recommend this title more highly!

Kindle edition is the previous edition, not the “new edition”.
The kindle version is the previous edition. I’ve been reading the wrong chapters thinking the kindle and the newest print version were the same.
