Educate yourself. (Small Engine, Carburator, Etc..)
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I need to get this review out, due to what I saw in the Q&A section (and other reviews).Purchase is exactly what was expected of a $300.00 moto. Purchased two MX for Christmas holiday. Arrived on time in a shipping box with very little padding; leaving the front forks free to move and "possibly" bend. Ordered a green and red bike. Bike's came with white plastics and the associated colors via graphic pattern. As I debated whether or not to purchase these I noticed a number of reviews claiming the ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION of their MX. It was alarming, but I also understand that people may not have an understanding of a two-stroke engine. Straight 91 octane gas will cause the engine to run higher and hotter than mixed, and as I see picture after picture of blown engines (or sheared mounting bolts) I can only assume an incorrect gas mixture was the culprit. Expect the hard plastics around the pull start to chip apart as they're used due to impact.Be precise on the mixture, even slightly heavy on the oil. The included bottle is fine to use, but I'd encourage owners to find a more accurate way to mix gas/oil. Remember, 25:1.Next, clean the carburetor before first use. (keep in mind that you need novice mechanical skills for this procedure) Stand the MX up on rear wheel and remove the two screws holding the float bowl to the carburetor. Then remove the center Brass intake jet and the throttle screw from the side of the carb (pay close attention to the spring on the throttle screw). Using carburetor cleaner, spray the inside of the carburetor. Continue spraying through the brass jet, and through the throttle screw hole. Clean it out good. Reassemble. (A carb has many small pieces, so take care while maintaining)Last thing to mention. The air intake is easily compromised due to it's location. The rear tire will throw dirt and mud onto the intake, which will quickly prevent the bike from running. I haven't done it yet, but it would be worth looking into a modification that would protect the intake from debris.First ride my boys took it into mud. Not normal mud, brick building mud. Bikes wouldn't restart so they hopped on with me, and I got the truck to load them in. After a thorough cleaning, they restarted with ease. Both boys are 50lbs. One is seven, one is nine. Both boys rip, but the young one has the old one beat! Happy Riding!
