I am not a Catholic but instead a Lutheran (Wisconsin Synod)
BUT... ever since I was a little girl I have loved Saints and Angels. I have no known reason for this because NONE of my adoptive family members were religious or even spiritual in any way, shape, or form. However, they had ME in church "more than God" I would say to them. Maybe they thought I could save them all from damnation, lol. Anyway, this book is AMAZING. I cannot put it down. To me it makes SO much sense... for example I often hear people say, "Why would God allow such evil in the world?". Well this author explains that PERFECTLY! Another important note is that I have only read TWO books in my entire life and do NOT like to read. Once I finish this one, it will be my 3rd and I am nearly 60 years old. Highly recommend whether you are starting on your journey to God, or you are Lutheran, SDA, Jehovah, Mormon, Catholic, or anything else! This is NOT a "religious" book in my opinion... it is more of a "history" book that describes why society is so messed up now, and unless we as a collective society turn back toward God, society will always be messed up.

Excellent book about how the saints handled torment by the devil
I found this book very interesting. I had hoped for more detail about the interactions between the demons and the saints. Many of summaries were quite good, but some seemed to be not much more than a blurb you would find on the flyleaf of a book. I do think it is worth purchasing, but I would get the Kindle or print version. I would not get the audible version. The narrator does read well, but his interpretation of what a demon would sound like is laughable. It is really quite a shame. For people who believe in the existence of demons, which I imagine would be the majority of purchasers, this is a serious subject. We really are interested in the tactics used by the saints to fight off demonic attacks, and so are not only interested in the lives of the saints, and their pursuit of ho!iness, but also gleaning some helpful advice on ways to combat the devil ourselves. Unfortunately, this reader treats the narration of the demon' s responses and dia!ogue as if he is imitating a wicked character in a children's fairytale. When he is narrating a conversation between a demon and the Curé of Ars for instance, he makes the demon sound like Rumpelstiltskin or a cartoon character. He does this in every chapter, and I found it very insulting. I'm not sure why he made the decision to handle it this way. Either he wants to make sure the audience knows that he doesn't take any of this seriously, and so he turns the demonic speaking parts into a comedy routine, or he wants to make sure none of us take this at all seriously, so he is injecting some humor and levity with his farcical tone of voice and ridiculous accents and sounds. He makes the demons sound ludicrous, and turns all of the demonic encounters into a comedy routine. This is the way I would envision it being read during a late night television comedy skit. If you are a religious person, and have any respect for the saints, stick to the kindle or print version. The narrated version will leave you feeling indignant on behalf of the saints, as if they were a fairytale character like Goldilocks in fear of the three bears, instead of men and women who suffered through difficult lives involving poverty, ill health, censure by the authorities or their fami!ies, as well as ongoing diabolical torment. They deserve a little more respect than they were given here.

The Saints overcome evil!
Well written and thorough text on the battles these saints had with Satan. I would highly recommend if you have any interest in the subject matter. I wonder who is fighting evil now on this level. St. Michael come to our aide, Holy Saints and Angels pray for us.

Let the Saints be your guide to Spiritual Warfare!
Dr. Paul Thigpen is an excellent teacher of the Catholic faith. Among the 40+ books he has written and edited, are A Year with the Saints, A Year with Mary, and Manual for Spiritual Warfare. With those recent titles, his latest book, Saints Who Battled Satan, is the logical topic choice. In Saints Who Battled Satan, Dr. Thigpen, provides us with examples of saints who fought Satan with Scripture, prayer, and the sacraments. The book begins with the story of Eve and the Fall. He sets the stage by telling us of the angelic rebellion led by Lucifer, and how his first target after he was expelled from Heaven was Eve. He then walks us through the crafty methods Satan used to cause Eve and all of humanity to fall as well. We then receive 17 chapters, one per saint, which gives brief background information on the saint, and then tells us how Satan attacked them and how they prevailed. Some of the saints include the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Paul, and St. Dominic. Allow me to tell you about a favorite saint of mine - St. Anthony of the Desert.St. Anthony was born in the 3rd Century to a wealthy family in Egypt. When his parents died, he made sure his sister was taken care of, and then disposed of his inheritance so that he could go out into the desert, like Jesus did. His reason for doing this was that he wanted to learn how Jesus overcame Satan and then teach it to others. Satan did not like Anthony, because he knew he would be a powerful foe if he succeeded, so he first attacked him with all the physical pleasures and comforts of the world. The second attack on St. Anthony involved Satan and a band of demons whipping him to near death. The rest of the chapter details other attacks by Satan and victories by St. Anthony. It then concludes with the details of other men joining St. Anthony in the desert to become monks as well. I pretty much know St. Anthony's story by heart, but it is always an inspiration to read through it. He shows us a perfect example of battling Satan, not with his own strength, but relying solely on God to help him. This is the only way to ever achieve victory over Satan. The above profile of St. Anthony is just one of seventeen examples of saints who waged spiritual warfare against Satan. If the book was nothing but these profiles, that would be enough to make a compelling read. However, there is a 50 page epilogue that contains more (shorter) examples of other saints who battled saints as well as wisdom from the saints on how to fight Satan. Some of these saintly tips encourage us to pray the Our Father, pray the Sign of the Cross, use Holy Water frequently, and find strength in receiving the Eucharist. This impressive epilogue and the detailed examples of the saints make for a winning combination. I highly recommend this book for all Catholics and Christians alike, as we are all at war with Satan and need all the help we can get!

Spiritual battle plan bible
If you have a good understanding of this kind of warfare, this give so much insight as to how the saints dealt with Satan, to be Humble before him, He just cant handle that. Theres so much out there about how saintly they are, but not how they had to deal with Satan. But they dealt with him in a way you couldn't imagine, the Devil is so easily confused, if you have fait, and are prepared for Martyrdom for the Anointed one, the Devil is defeated,This is one of the spiritual battle plan bibles,
