High quality food = preventative health
The cats have been so healthy since using this brand. I had to switch to this lower fat as the full fat food was making one a little tubby. They are free grazers and eat throughout the day, so using this version has helped control weight. They have almost no hairballs and have healthy bowels whereas on cheaper food, they were always hacking up stuff. Its expensive, but worth it to be proactive to eliminate future vet bills.

Kitty loves it, does everything needed for indoor cat
This food combined with an autofeeder helped my indoor cat get to a very healthy weight pretty quickly. Her coat is beautiful and healthy, I haven't seen any hairballs, and though she is a pretty sleepy kitty generally, just today she brought down a fly mid-air so she definitely still has the energy when she needs it.

I think this is the best food to feed my girls
I have been giving this formula to my three cats since they were kittens and they are on the free-feeding method where there's always food available. since this one has weight gain control in it that just means that it has a higher volume of pyscillium fiber in it which is metamucil for humans so it gives you bulk forming fiber so it will never have diarrhea and then the hairball control basically needs that there's a tiny amount of petroleum jelly or Vaseline in their food to make it pass I rarely find it for a hairball and they're all extremely healthy and they can eat whenever they want and they don't have excess weight on them. There's another formula that's chicken weight gain but it doesn't have hairball formula so you have to look really careful at the label for the orange bag and it's about $50 for 11 lb

Beneficial as promised
Is a very good product that really helpy cats(3) with the hairball problem. The only minus is that it desinegrates too easy with the cats saliva and when someone is left wet in the plate it desinegrates leaving a paste residue. The other minus point is that is too expensive compare with other brands more beneficial for the cat's health and the amount of pounds in the bag

OFFICIAL FELINES' SEALS OF APPROVAL!
My six house cats are all getting up there in years and have gradually evolved into enormous couch potatoes, with their primary form of exercise being the walk to the food bowls. And, we were also seeing an increase in fur balls. Obviously, something needed to be done, so I began a search for a grain free reducing diet. I was thrilled to find that Blue Buffalo had a grain free cat food that not only served to help the cats lose weight but also helped control fur balls. Prior to this point, I had not fed Blue Buffalo to the cats or the dogs and had been purchasing Merrick for some time - so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't able to find a Merrick cat food that covered my particular situation, so I decided to give the Blue Buffalo a try. Miraculously, *all* of the cats absolutely *love* this Blue Buffalo Wilderness formula.... and if you have a multiple cat household, you probably already know that there's always somebody in the bunch who will turn their nose up when you attempt any dietary changes. I haven't yet been using it long enough for evidence of weight loss; however, either the fur ball problem has notably diminished - or they're hiding the evidence of those inside a pair of shoes. This is a cat food that I would absolutely recommend to a friend. Brands such as Merrick and Blue Buffalo are of course pricier than what you can buy at your friendly local grocery store.... but if you take the time required to thoroughly examine what's actually *in* the cheaper pet foods versus the more expensive brands, you'll realize that the high quality foods are *so* much better for your animals and worth every extra dime!

My Kitty loves this product.
I have a 15 year old female tuxedo kitty and she has a sensitive stomach. She has eaten this product for quite sometime. She very seldom has a problem with digesting this food.

A great food (even at its worst*)
Grain free, no by-products ("pink slime") and loaded with nutrients and protein; everything active kitties need. Also, my cats love this stuff, which is good because I went through two other premium grain-free foods before this one, and they hated those. *Now, that being said, (elephant in the room) there was a lawsuit a few years ago filed by Purina against Blue Buffalo because one of their suppliers was using animal by-products in its ingredients (the same by-products Purina openly uses in its products). Blue Buffalo copped to it (saying they were unaware), but largely the lawsuit was a smear campaign by Purina. The product line majorly effected was BB's Life Protection line of products which tested to have up 24% by-products. In the Wilderness line (which this review is about) only the Life Source bits (a relatively small portion of the food) were shown to contain any chicken by-products, about 8%. In all other lines it was solely the Life Source bits that were effected, and only contained about 2% by-products. These aren't high enough numbers to concern me (excluding the Life Protection line), since most consumer pet foods use animal by-products safely, and since the percentages are so low. Though safe doesn't equal healthy. And am I still upset I wasn't getting what the Blue Buffalo Guarantee promised? Sure. However, BB's supplier, Wilber-Ellis, has since stated that the company has upgraded their procedures and standards at their offending facility “to ensure compliance with the company’s (Blue Buffalo) demanding quality requirements and provided additional senior level oversight to ensure those requirements are being met.” We consumers will have to hope this is true, but since pet foods are a very poorly regulated industry, all we can really do is take their word and hope it's true, though this isn't the first time Wilber-Ellis has come under fire (and they're a major supplier to many pet food companies). So, in the meantime, I'll keeping feeding my babies the food they love knowing that, even at its "worst", it's still one of the healthiest store bought foods I can give them.
