Cutting board cream is a must have
This product is made from bees wax and easy to apply to your freshly oiled cutting board … keeps the board water proof and in good condition. Use after oiling the board first.

Great for unfinished butcher block countertops
I purchased the cream as well as the oil from John Boos to finish some new butcher block countertops I was installing in my home. I had a few requirements for the product. One I wanted it sourced in the USA as I don't know where the ingredients are from in the big box store varieties of butcher clock mixes. Second I wanted a natural finish I could cut on and cook with(making pasta etc). Boos fit that description as it is natural beeswax and mineral oil.For the application, I did all prep work and initial coats prior to installing the countertops. I cut the counters, rounded the edges, sanded up to 180 grit, and applied the oil. 3 coats of oil were applied with a foam brush and as it soaked in I applied more for about 6 hours. Let sit overnight and wiped clean. Then I applied a liberal amount of the cream to the surface like buffing wax into a car surface and let sit for 8 hours. Wipe clean after and buff out any residual oil/ wax. This took several cloths(I used old tube socks as they work great for oil and paint applications) The maple came out beautifully as you can see in the pictures. Water beads up, the finish is smooth, and it has no residual smell, not that there was one when applying it either.

Board looks better than new!
So we have had our Boos board for a couple of years and I never got around to picking up mineral oil for it. It still looked good, just getting more than a bit on the dry side. I finally splurged a bit on the Boos brand oil for it. Since the board hadn't been treated since new I gave it a couple of coats. The first coat was admittedly generous. No so much that it went all over the counter, but enough that the board had a distinct wet look (without puddles) to it. I left the board for a good couple of hours before coming back to wipe off the excess - and there wasn't any. I gave the board another day for the oil to penetrate and then I treated it again, this time using less oil and only waiting about an hour between putting the oil on and wiping off the excess. There wasn't much excess this time either. The board looked great. Looking at the edges you could see a major difference where the oil had soaked down into and where the wood was still dry. The next day I started the same process on the other side of the board. I've since treated the board one more time, about a month since the first treatment. This oil makes a big difference in not only the look of the board, but it even seems to clean up easier. Water doesn't penetrate as far when you are rinsing it off, so it dries faster. Even though the bottle says to give the oil five minutes to soak in, I've found that leaving it for a good hour or two allows most of the oil to soak into our block that is a couple of inches thick. I've heard leaving it overnight works better for thicker blocks of 4" - 6" or more.

Protects my boards perfectly
I have used this board cream for years. I absolutely love it. It protects my boards and even helps to keep them "nonstick." I use my main board multiple times per week (it's 21 years old now). I always put a thin layer of cream after each use. It soaks in for about an hour and I buff off any excess. I prefer the cream over the oil. The oil doesn't seem to protect as well and the oil must be left on for a lot longer before buffing.

I just love this stuff.
Had my cutting board for almost 15 years now. Monthly routine of mineral oil and Boo's board wax keeps it going.
