Every time we have a long power outage I say I’m going to buy a generator, then forget to. We were hit by Helene and we’re looking at a week or more without power. Ordered this on my phone while service was still up thinking it would get here after power was restored, but wouldn’t forget to buy one before the next outage. I was surprised and grateful that Amazon delivered it 2 days later. Much earlier than the estimate. I added the included oil and it started up on the first pull. I changed the oil after 5 hours of break in, and it ran like a champ for 3 days until we had power. Then I leant it to some friends who are still without power and they’ve had no issues running it for almost a week straight. Would definitely recommend this as an emergency backup. It’s easy to use, quiet, and has enough power to keep the essentials powered up.

Just finished the five-hour break-in run of my new Pulsar Inverter generator and I'm generally pleased with it. I added a run timer and a magnetic dip stick based on recommendations of reviewers here and on YouTube and I'm glad I did. The run timer is a simple convenience that borders on essential if you want to handle maintenance like oil changes at intervals recommended by the manufacturer. installing it was difficult only because of the tight space you must work in. was a bit skeptical about the magnetic dip stick but the metal filings that it collected after the first five hours of running convinced me it is necessary. The biggest hassle was changing the oil. It's done by tilting the generator about 45-degrees and simply pouring the oil out. Sounds easy but the first time I tried, I wound up with oil on my patio deck, on the movers dolly I have the generator strapped to and very little in the collection pan. The second try worked better but was still messy. Next time I'm going to try to find some plastic tubing that will fit the opening or get an inexpensive oil change pump. Using a multi speed fan and an electric hot plate I was able to run the generator at varying loads throughout the five-hour break in run. It worked flawlessly and never required more than two pulls to start. The manufacturer strongly suggests grounding the generator before use. I've never seen that done on the many generators I've worked with over the years and I did not do it. I agree that it's a "best practice" but this is supposed to be a portable generator and I don't know anyone who travels around with a copper grounding rod while camping or RVing. I bought this for long power outages at home following hurricanes and it will be used to power my refrigerator-freezer, my computers, my television and, if necessary, a small window air conditioner. It will compliment a solar generator that can also run all of that stuff but unfortunately only works when the sun is shining. The last time we had a lengthy hurricane outage, I didn't have enough sun to keep the batteries charged much less trying to power my necessities. I also consider the Pulsar to be an insurance policy because now that I have it, I won't need it. Yuk, yuk!

I've been in the small engine business my entire life and have about about 3 decades of experience with generators. This is a good one, especially for the price. Just remember, every company makes a lemon or two. I have two brand new $1200 gonna eu2200i's and this $300 pulsar is quieter and easier to start. Plus, it's lighter. I started out by trashing the provided oil and went with 5w30 full synthetic, which lasts more than twice a long, and makes it run better and easier to start. Just remember, if you go fill synthetic, you can never go back or else you WILL cause engine damage. It started first pull right or off the box, and still does almost every time after the break-in period. Almost every bad review I've read about this generator on here was written by people who have absolutely no business trying to operate or maintain a small engine of any kind because they are totally clueless to proper maintenance and lack the necessary understanding to properly operate such a machine. Like I said, every company puts out a lemon here and there, but I have worked on many Pulsar units over the years, and they have a really good track record. This one is quite impressive. I'm buying a second one right now so I can parallel them in case one of these stupid overpriced less reliable brand new Honda's decides to crap out again.

Excellent product, delighted with the service, it's quiet and very effective

The new Pulsar G2319N is one of the new breed of lightweight generators encased in plastic. It weights around fifty pounds and is highly portable. We set up the device following the recommendations of other buyers that suggested: 1) Use "synthetic" motor oil. We use the least expensive synthetic motor oil of the right weight from WalMart. 2) Install an new oil plug with a built-in magnet to catch metal filings. (And sure enough, there are metal filings the oil plug has caught and stopped from circulating in the engine.) 3) Change the oil every forty hours and after first breaking in the engine. So far, the generator has worked well as an external power source for power tools like a portable air compressor, an electric chain saw, drills, an electric pressure cleaner, an electric torque wrench, and a reciprocating saw. The generator starts consistently on the first or second pull of the cord and runs as long as needed without any fiddling or maintenance, aside from adding fuel. As other buyers have reported, there's an engine surge in this generator when it runs and it must be a idiosyncratic condition of this engine's design; it speeds up and slows down, and if it was a car engine surging like this we would be concerned, but this is a little one cylinder gas engine. We started adding a small amount of "STA-BIL" -- 'Fast Fix,' small engine treatment -- as a fuel additive when we add gas to the generator, and that helps to smooth out the engine. There is still a slight engine surge even after the fuel additive but you have to listen for it. ("STA-BIL - Fast Fix" fuel treatment is great stuff, and it saved us the trouble of taking our twenty year old Honda generator's carburetor apart for cleaning or replacement). There is no external fuel gauge on the Pulsar G2319N but run times on a full tank seems to be around four hours. This is a good running generator and seems to be well made but it needs to get careful treatment, it has a plastic body and can't be banged around or handled roughly. These style of small gas generators have been on the market for a number of years so they've probably worked the bugs out of them, but there's always a question about longevity - how long they are going to last. This type of generator is probably not going to hold up running all day on a job-site, but it's handy and lightweight enough to carry along for those times electric power is needed.

Bought one of these (Powermate 2000i) at Walmart in December 2017 for $488.00 plus tax plus warranty. Out the door for a tad over $550.00. Have owed many comparable models and this one is the best. Never bought Honda or Yamaha because of price. Upon purchase from Walmart, my thinking was the same. " OK, let's try this one and see how she goes." Fingers always crossed. Ran this little bugger 24/7 for almost 100 days minus time for oil changes, valve adjustment, etc...before the Pulsar arrived. (Powermate still runs perfectly @ more than 1500hrs) So happy with Powermate, I decided to buy the Pulsar w/o warranty at cheaper price thru Amazon ($430.00) w/ parallel cord ($100). Don't really need the extra amperage but who knows. So tickled with the performance, I decided what the heck. For the price of a Honda, you can get 2 of these puppies, the parallel cord and some change back. The biggest problem I have with all of these units is the pull cord can easily chafe and snap. Not a lot of fun when it breaks. But not a deal breaker either. This is why I refuel it while its running to alleviate additional pull starts. To refuel, I use an outboard motor hose with dual in line filters, and non ethanot 90 octane fuel. Never spill a drop but Not Manufacturer Recommended !!! Please be careful while fueling anything!! Using 15 gallons/week in eco mode. I live on a boat and my normal electrical use is 5-7 amps/ hr unless I'm cooking. These units are well built, really easy to work on and really easy on the ears. Have not experienced one electrical part failure. As long as these are available, I will never buy another. I always use Mobile 1 synthetic oil and change every 4 days. (100 hrs) Oil change is super easy. I use a West Marine hand pump oil extractor. Add 12 ounces @ 15 degree tilt. Takes 5 minutes. The only difference between this unit and the Powermate besides color is that Powermate has nice covers for the 110 v outlets and USB port. Pulsar unit does not. Not sure if this is worth the extra $50 bucks or not. Probably not. Also, because these are run 24/7 in the harsh marine environment, they are secured in weather proof sound box with air intake cowlings to protect against rain and salt water spray. You won't be disappointed. Just remember, as with any engine, "Use it or Lose it" .

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. THE LATCH TO START THE PRODUCT IS COMPLETELY DISMANTLED AND NOT RETRACTING BACK INTO THE GENERATOR NOW I AM UNABLE TO START THE GENERATOR. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS THEY DONT ANSWER PHONE CALLS WHEN YOU NEED PRODUCT SUPPORT. GO BUY A GENERATOR ELSE WHERE!!

Purchased in Feb, have taken it on multiple RV camping trips since. Unit is MUCH quieter than the champion open frame 3500 unit I was using. Much nicer to sleep as I can barely hear it outside putting away on eco mode. Won't run everything all at once, but will run everything (besides the rooftop AC). But I have read that it might with a soft start capacitor installed. Other vids and reviews indicate this isn't quite as quiet as some other generators however I think it's only a few decibels louder. I'm not paying 3x as much for a few decibels. Quality is much better than I expected at this price point. It's made very well. Longevity remains to be seen. I added an hour meter and have 57hours on it. Changed oil after 2hr's of use, and again just now. I purchased a magnetic dipstick and it collected some metal flecks but nothing major. Just typical wear. I'm very happy with this purchase and would purchase again. Trying to come up with anything I don't like about it and really don't have anything negative to say. I'm a larger guy and have no problem carrying it by it's handle. It's moderately heavy and could be considered heavy for smaller people. Air filter was dry. I checked it and lightly oiled it. I tested it with a kil-a-watt and it holds 1800watts no problem. It cut off if I tried to sustain anything above that. In ECO mode it is slow to react and ramp up when heavy load is added resulting in a momentary voltage drop. Some generators are better at this, but I would say this one does it adequately.

Seems great so far. Wait for a sale - price goes down significantly
