Dressing

Really nice collection of stories in a slightly different format than you might be used to; its not quite comic book, not quite storybook, it reads more like a children's story for adults. These personal stories are memorable and relocatable in a way that many other books on the shelves today are not, filled with wild imagery and fantastic color schemes. If you have never read anything else by the author, this might not be the best place to start as its certainly not his most accessible work, although some of the tales told within charmed me more than some of his previous work.

This is the good stuff

DeForge is getting better and better. An incredible storyteller with an ever-evolving, increasingly interesting and beautiful (even when disgusting) art style. Lately his color has been reaching new levels. This collects a lot of short-run work that you would otherwise have to pay top dollar on eBay to read. For fans of Chris Ware and David Cronenberg, or something like that.

Great as expected. Always surprising, fantastic and surreal, evoking feelings you didn't even know of, Michael DeForge's work is just one of a kind. This man is a bottomless pit of ideas and imagery. Especially in "Dressing", you can see his great variety of style and approach; it's so much fun to read and get lost in it over and over.. and over again.

This is the first book I've read from thia author and I absolutely loved the illustrations, and it added to the story. I also liked that there was a lot of variety in the stories and the way that you had to turn the book horizontal at one point it was fun.

completely weird and strange and did not like at all

Collection of short stories, both colour and b/w, featuring also some of the illustrative narrative side of his work (pretty much like First Year Healthy). Some of the stories here are among his best work. The hardcover edition and print quality is stunning.

Michael Deforge is a weird, cool and fun artist. This nice little hardback hit the spot.
