Excellent Movie for Fans of the Series
I am a dedicated fan of the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries series. I'm not certain how someone who never saw the series would experience the film. I would definitely recommend watching the series first. I think that the producers were able to keep to the dynamics of the show in movie format on a somewhat limited film budget. They really picked up nicely where the series left off. The film was dynamic, and for the most part, well paced. The dialog and sexual tension between Phyrne and Jack was wonderful. As with the series, Essie Davis was a true star who carried the film. Miriam Margolyes appearance as Aunt Prudence was also good to see. The costumes were stunning as were the filming locations. I thought the actress who played Shirin Abbas was very compelling as were the brief flashbacks to the women in the Bedouin village in Palestine. An added bonus was seeing very brief glimpses of members of the fan community who appeared as extras in the film.If I had any critiques, it would be that several of the original cast members had no more than 1-2 minutes of screen time (Ashleigh Cummings, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Anthony Sharpe, and Travis McMahon) while others were completely absent (Tammy MacIntosh, Richard Bligh, and Ruby Rees). I realize this was probably due to scheduling conflicts and budget, however I would have much rather had the entire film made in Australia if it would have meant including some of these actors in significant ways. On the other hand, several of the new peripheral actors had far too much screen time. I also could have done without the silly paranormal aspect of the story line with the giant green jewel and curse. In the series Phyrne and Jack were rational people who lived in reality, while other characters believed in spirits and the afterlife. It was disappointing that the film script couldn't have kept it that way.

Jack Pobinson and Phryne Fisher are hot, but this movie didn't boil
So, I am a big fan of this series and it could have stood another season or two and I would've been happy. A movie as a consolation prize. I was interested, but I did not expect much. Sometimes expectations are met. The story was interesting, but the resolution was nonexistent. The timeline? Who needs one? The wardrobe changes out of nowhere? Obviously can be explained by witchcraft. Jack and Phryne's relationship trouble? They were blown away by the desert wind. Duh! Honestly, Phryne's character was devalued. She loves Jack, but there is no emotional vulnerability. I feel like the writers were not trying to tie Miss Fisher down or subtract for the concept that she is modern and doesn't need a man. However, we know she doesn't need a man, but Jack isn't her cake he is the icing. Miss. Fisher is a smart, charming, troublesome, and beautiful whirlwind. Jack is an honest man who falls deeply in love with a force of nature. He has never attempted to tie her down. I feel through this Phryne showed no care for Jack just attraction. When they are clearly beyond that in the series. They are true partners in the series a fact that we only get glimpses of. But it was there all the elements of an old-fashioned Jack and Phryne misadventure and great story by everything need to be flushed our.

It was not very entertaining.
We are avid Miss Fischer fans and had watched all three seasons, so we were looking forward to The Crypt of Tears. However, the plot was confusing and not credible. We rewatch Miss Fischer’s Mysteries on pbs. We won’t watch The Crypt of Tears again.

Miss Fisher’s feature film
I love Miss Phryne Fisher. I only recently became aware of this show (yes, I am behind the times because they were on TV years ago). I had watched the three seasons and was excited to see a feature length film had been made. I preordered it and was happy when it finally arrived. Amazon honored their price match and gave me the lower price when it shipped. Very pleased.Film review (light Spoilers): Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears veers a bit into mysticism and magic in this story, but it doesn’t diminish the mystery. The mystery unfolds due to the cultural struggle between England and Palestine and particularly how that trickles down to two families, with whom Miss Fisher is acquainted. Since most of the story happens in England and Palestine, we only get one scene with Dot and Hugh. I was disappointed to not see more of those two. However, Jack makes the trip to England (for a compelling plot driven reason) and madcap adventures ensue. It is a gorgeously shot movie, the story is interesting, and the characters match there small screen personas well, while still allowing for growth.Overall, I think that the integral pieces that made the show so enjoyable translated well to the feature length format. Miss Fisher still boldly And stylishly gets things done! Recommended to fans of the show: Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and those who like cozy mysteries with period costumes.

Klassisk Miss Fisher!
Lite annorlunda eftersom tempot är lägre, men lika bra som de föregående kortare delarna.Slutet på serien höll stilen ända in i mål!

Para los fans de la serie cierra las historias que quedaron inconclusas en la 3a temporada de la mejor manera posible. No me canso de verla una y otra vez.

Great movie for Miss Fisher fans.
Loved the movie. It stayed true to the Miss Fisher series but on a broader screen. Loved that the gofundme people became a part of the movie. All the additional information from the director and actors was wonderful. The only sad or bad thing is that now I want to see more of Miss Fisher and her adventures. The dvd has been passed around to relatives that also enjoy Miss Fisher and they were delighted with the movie as well.Kudos to the cast and directors and the designers. Wonderful show to watch and enjoy.
