As a mom I think this book has much to be desires. As a long ago 9th grader, I would probably have found this book super boring and aggravating.This is not a reader friendly or inviting book thats for sure. Pages are super thin. Font is tiny. But for the dust jacket, there is zero color in the book. There is zero visual interest. Headings and subheadings to visually guide and facilitate scanning and learning, nope. The chapters are many but short and that seems useful to an inattentive or anguished student who just wants to get thru a chapter and/feel some sense of accomplishment. As for some of the content in the chapters (I have read a few of them), I find them interesting. They are written a bit like a story....a 5 or 6 or 7 page story. That format can be more engaging if the topic is of interest to you. All in all, a classical format to world history could be more inviting and reader friendly !
