Great way to reclaim heat that would be lost.
For a long time I had been thinking of way to capture the heat lost to the chimney. I came up with several ideas, and in my searching for parts to build some sort of contraption I found this! This truely works well and starts putting out heat within minutes of starting up the wood stove. It has a thermostatic control which kicks on when the flue gases reach 150° F. I was very pleased to find it built into the fan controller and it works well. The toggle switch on the back is "On/Auto" not "On/Off"This product does reduce your draft and shouldn't be used on longer chimney pipes without something to assist the draft. I use a draft inducer when starting up wood stove to prevent any smoke or creosote and that works just fine.Pros:Reclaims alot of heat and pushes it away from the stove.Thermostatic control turns on blower motor automatically.Push/Pull rod makes cleaning the internal heat pipes easy.Warms entire basement and increases woodstove BTU output.Cons:Larger than it appears, and can make installation tricky.Magic heat MUST have power when running the stove, or the electronics will get damaged. Bad for power outages.Reduces draft flow.

Thermostatic fan fail
This device is supposed to have a thermostatically controlled fan however my unit will run continuously no matter what. The fan is just always on unless I turn the switch to off. I am not very happy about this at all. The heat it throws it pretty good. It doesn't feel very hot coming out of the unit (just a lil warm) but after a few hours there is a drastic difference in the temperature of my basement.

Highly recommend a variable speed fan control in an auxiliary outlet ...
A well proven device thats well made and effective..Will double the BTU's of any stove and will decrease amount of wood needed to warm any space.Highly recommend a variable speed fan control in an auxiliary outlet for a much quieter fan when under low burn which is what you'll be doing most of the time now...

awesome
I use this in a proprietary design called the heat boffinator which includes a morso squirrel stove as the source and forced air ventilation above the magic heat.Heat Boffinator[...]It works really, really well. Air coming out of the front is measured as high as 320 degrees. It's been in operation 18 hours a day for 2 years with zero issues.Make sure to vigorously move the rod back and forth while the unit is operating once a day to clean off the heat exchanger tubes, otherwise the buildup will require disassembly to get it working again !!! Clean heat exchanger tubes make a big difference in efficiency.

I didn't care for it
It is too hard to keep clean. The stove was always smoking so I took it back off.

Six Inch Magic Heat
Hooked up to a boiler in my garage, not sure if manufacturer would recommend, but used two T's to install in parallel with flue pipe (damper in flue pipe to control amount of gas through Magic Heat Reclaimer). It's been in operation for two weeks and definitely reclaims heat that would be lost up the flue. And the parallel hook-up gives me a little control. Really appreciate products that do what they're advertised to do. Also if your hook-up allows and you're (or a friend) is a handy "welder / cutter" 6" Well Casing makes a perfect fit and solid mounting for a 6" unit. Only down side encountered could be a slight smoke odor emitted at cleaning slider, but was very minimal.

heat exchanger consequences
let me start out first be stating this is a well built productand i have no complaint with the quality and it performed perfectlyand blows a large amount of heated air into the room.....but what it causes needs to be thought aboutthe blower takes so much heat out of the pipe above it that your vent pipe above itgets very dirty.in my case enough to completely clog my top screen at the end of the vent above the rooflet me also state that before installing it my vent pipe was always very cleaneven after multiple years of use.i always run a good hot fire that burns cleanyou also cannot close your dampner down " to make your wood last longer " after youinstall the heat exchanger, you must run it wide open all the time, and it stillruns very dirty......so much so that i removed it...

Good heat, noisy fan
We installed out Magic Heat a few weeks ago. It does reclaim a lot of heat and blows it into room. 5 stars for that. BUT it is super noisy. Our living room is not that big and you practically have to yell to be heard over it. Turn the tv up and it's fine. We have gotten used to the noise but there is no denying it is super loud. It is also a lot larger that we thought. Wood stove is our only heat, so this really makes a temp. difference to us, just wish the fan wasn't so noisy.
