My body needs more cushioning than a yoga mat provides and this is perfect!I’ve had it for several years and it’s held up great.

Update: Spray mat with hairspray if it is too slippery!! We were having issues with the mat being too slippery, and after researching if there was something I could do to remedy the slipperiness, I decided on a whim to try spraying it with hairspray, and it fixed the problem completely!! We do have to respray it every few days, but I'm just delighted that the mat is now completely usable with a fairly easy solution!! The hairspray makes her feet and hands stick!!Original Review:My 11 year old daughter got this mat for Christmas. She has been taking gymnastics for about a year and is getting into back handsprings and front handsprings, so she wanted a mat to practice on at home. Overall, this is a very nice mat. The quality and thickness is great, and this is the cheapest 8 ft. mat we could find. It is also easy for her to fold and unfold.My only complaint is that she is having issues with it being too slick (her bare feet slide when she tries to plant them in her landings, and this has caused quite a few falls) when she does front walkovers, front handsprings, and back handsprings which she can do on the mats at the gym without that issue. After about a month, she is getting a little more used to it and doesn't have this issue if she wears sneakers, but in gymnastics class, she is barefoot, so she isn't too thrilled about wearing shoes.However, it is great for cartwheels, round offs, hand stands, and back walkovers. She also uses it folded to practice her over splits to increase her flexibility and has slept on it with a few friends in the living room for sleepovers. So it's definitely being used, but the slickness was a little disappointing to her especially at first. If you are purchasing this for a more serious gymnast who is really wanting to practice new skills at home, you might want to go ahead and spend more and get a more well-known brand.

The padding offers a lot of support and I don’t worry about them getting hurt when they’re tumbling or doing cart wheels. It is easy to clean and wipe down. They even use it outside.
