Jonas Kaufmann: A Picture Journey

For those who are followers of this world-famous operatic tenor, this beautiful book will be a wonderful addition to any 'library'. Just to listen to his recordings is always a very special treat, but to see him 'live' in recital, concert work or operatic production is just something very special. This book is a pictorial 'diary' taking the reader through Mr. Kaufmann's career thus far and the photographs are just stunning - with gentle, written reminders of what each individual view represents. Very powerful studies and reminders of what this man has achieved thus far in his life and career. There's lots more to come I'm sure.

This book is a high quality product - thick paper with discreet text in English and German which traces in photographs Herr Kaufmann's career and so forth. These books are expensive to produce; this one has high production values and is very interesting and enjoyable to read/browse. For those of us who are unlikely to ever see him live, this supplements the DVDs/Blu-rays and is a real delight and on that basis I think it is worth the price and five stars.

A beautiful creation, an insightful work of art which charts and reflects the glittering career and ascent to the top of its subject. Of course it's a must for any JK fans but I think there's plenty to attract those with interest in opera and art too.

A must have for anyone who loves singing and especially the tenor voice. Kaufmann is not only the leading operatic tenor but also a generous artist and mensch. This book, lovingly assembled by a devoted admirer and longtime associate, attempts to communicate Kaufmann’s special quality with an extensive collection of photos, many previously unpublished, and comments. I could only have wished a gloss paper had been used, but perhaps photo resolution was too low. Regardless, this is an unsurpassed tribute to a great artist and a must have for lovers of the lyric arts.

Pour les admirateurs/admiratrices de Jonas Kaufmann, je recommande cet ouvrage où figurent de très belles et nombreuses photographies. Ce n’est pas une biographie et les commentaires sont succincts. Je l’ai commandé après avoir lu le commentaire précieux d’un acheteur : il n’est pas indispensable de comprendre l’anglais ou l’allemand pour acquérir ce livre.

Man kennt den Kaufmann ja meist nur von TV-Übertragungen, wenn man nicht international in die Oper geht.In dem Buch sieht man mal die Breite des Spektrums. Sitzt man in München kennt man nur eine kleine Seite von ihm, hier kommt man ihm ganz nahe. Zu den Proben, seinen eigenen Fotos, seiner Familie, die Rollen usw. Dieses Repertoire macht ihm so schnell keiner nach...

What's not to like? As an ex professional operatic soprano now in her 80th year, still learning from this extraordinary singer. Saw him in Sydney one year ago and thought - I have still so much to learn. His sound fills me with joy, his technique fills me with wonder, and I can only wish that I been born somewhat later, and maybe I might have been lucky enough to have sung with him!Love watching his interaction with Antonio Pappano in interviews etc. Long may he continue to bring such great joy and wonderful music into our lives.
