Davis Instruments7627 Solar-powered Repeater

The repeater is very simple to install and configure. I temporarily activated the test dip switch to verify the signal from my Pro2 sensors. Once verified, I reconfigured the Pro2 setup at the console,making sure to add the repeater to the setup. I'm now receiving a good signal from the sensor array.

The 4-star rating is only because of the price, because the unit works great. We were trying to access a weather station that is, according to Google Earth, 1,380 feet from our in-house located Vantage Pro 2 console unit. In addition to distance, there is no line of sight, with trees & houses in the way, so naturally our console could not receive a signal.Although the price tag did initially put us off, we already had the console and didn't want to purchase and install an entire new weather station, so we took a chance and ordered the repeater, expecting we would have to site it at some point between us and the weather station. We were very pleased at discovering the repeater, when mounted on our home's TV antenna mast, received and repeated the signal reliably at the 1300-plus foot distance, providing a solid signal for the in-house display.

I bought this after searching for a "solar wifi extender" - it was the second item this Amazon search returned. However this is NOT a wifi range extender or repeater, which will relay a wifi internet signal from a router. Instead it's specifically designed to use with a Davis weather station. Perhaps it works very well in that specific application but it's definitely NOT a wifi repeater or extender. I'm returning it and hoping for a refund.

it was easy to set-up following detailed instructions in the manual booklet.All went smoothly & in no time the device was set up & I was able to access the weather information from my Vantage VUE located a bit far on the mountain!So I am happy.Only down point, I was surprised with the 123 battery, it is no longer a branded battery (was Duracell in the past), well probably they save a few cents, too bad when the device is $$$.At least quality is there :) (besides the battery of course!).

This unit works as advertised. My ISS unit is about 800' away on a hill behind my house with trees between. I use this off to the side about half way to repeat the signal to my console.

Working so far even with a lot of winter over cast skies .. have two set up as repeaters for Vineyard weather station

Was not able to use this until our weather station and test setup were just completed. Tried to power it on and cannot get any power to the device with either solar or direct battery. Changed batteries, tried test switch and still nothing. Dead as a doorknob! Too late to return now, so stuck with this defective device and out $200.
