CarexHealth Brands Metal Reacher, 32 Inch

This is great for people that have difficulties reaching things that are too high or too low for them to reach. Durable and lightweight. Works well. A helpful purchase. A must have in my situation.

This reacher, at 32" is just a half-inch shy of the one I currently use, which belonged to my late aunt when she was in a nursing home years ago. The handle and main shaft are of the exact same style and construction, with the trigger area made to more comfortably support 2 fingers pulling. I am extremely happy with this purchase and expect this one to be around for years to come.

This is my third reacher from Carex and I was very pleased with the first two. This one performs terribly and looks awful. The pulley string that runs the length of the interior of the shaft that provides the pincher effect does not look finished like on the first two reachers and it is exposed. It sticks out right before the pinching arm with two raw ends of string each about 3 inches long and you can clearly see the knots. Also, the rubberized tip that covers the foam rubber that fills in the end of the shaft that provides a soft, solid surface to pinch against for picking up finer things, like paper, is missing. Even the foam rubber is missing. This makes it useless for anything but large bulky items like clothes. Missing this rubber tip also exposes the sharp ends of the shaft which means it will scratch anything it touches and even pull threads on clothing items. This is normally a reliable brand but I am very unhappy with the quality of this piece. It is easy to see that it is not finished and missing pieces and it should have been caught somewhere during the manufacturing process. I will buy Carex products again only because I have had so many good experiences, but I will have to make sure I have enough time to return any defective items before they will be needed.

This thing is the cat's meow. We have a gazillion big oak trees in our yard so I have six gazillion limbs to pick up each week. This is very handy cause I'm 70 years old and have alittle trouble getting around. It takes awhile for me to cover about 1 1/2 acres but this thing makes it easier.

The reacher I received is not the same as the picture, if it was I would be happy. I received one that has a more angular design in the trigger and the claw. This design does not have rubber in the tip. The curved design that is pictured does. Without the rubber in the tip the claw cannot pick up small objects, nor hold on to objects once they are grasped. Do not waste your money on the angular design...IT DOES NOT WORK!

It's like grabbers I have, but there is no magnetic tip nor a magnet on the tip, which is advertised AND it stated that on the packaging it came in.
