Jump Start JSV2T 24 Watt T5 120V Grow Light System with Built in Timer, Adjustable Height, 2 Foot Wide Stand, Fixture, and Tube

Fits the bill if you want an early start on a small garden or some flowers for a bed or, like me, a bit of both. The light is warm enough, and casts strongly over a solid six-inch width. I'm using small starter pots (mostly 1-1/2 inch square; some were 2-1/2 inch) seated in a 8 1/2" flat so I can water from the bottom. Works well, but I do move the flat a bit once or twice a day to get ample time for all seeds/seedlings under the strongest light as the single bulb will not sufficiently cover the whole 8 1/2" area I'm using. It is close though; getting good germination, etc., so the light is strong enough, and even if you're not picky like me and don't move it, you should get good results.Also, the built-in timer function is just a fantastic bonus for the price. I've looked at large, far more expensive systems, but due to money, space, and knowing my penchant for overdoing stuff (and getting too busy to properly care for my too-large-garden!), this light really fits the bill. Keeps me small as I can only run so many starters at one time (48).As well, while the stand itself and the light adjusting system (a cord and stop) is basic and would not put up with much abuse (e.g., a crazy cat/dog, small children), it all is sturdy enough, very simple to operate (and put together), and honestly, is just a very good deal.I might buy another, depending on how well I maintain my garden this year.

The light itself is amazing, and my plants just took off. I have the previous version of this grow light, bought from the same posting on Amazon, as well, and I like the new one much, much better. It's a full LED tube NOT a bunch of individual LEDs of different colors. I have both lights set up over my table, and their stands had no problems sliding close to each other.It's easy to assemble (follow the instructions!), and it's only moderately warm to the touch, so my plants brushing it have been unharmed.That said... this does NOT have a timer and the switch is a bit flimsy. I suspect the description text on Amazon hasn't been updated. Those are my only complaints though - I love this light!!!When it shipped, it came in a very long box, but it was carefully packed and there was NO damage to the light or frame even though the package came pretty battered.

Love the timer, it’s sturdy enough, the grow lights are better than what I had years ago. Having it be adjustable and not integral to the plastic covers is important so you can adjust the night as they grow and prevent legginess.

I disliked that the product came in damaged. The T5 fixture seemed solid but as soon as I plugged it in, a flash and nothing after. It didn’t seem broken but it sounded like something inside the T5 light broke. The glass is fine but inside something is lose.Update: I got a replacement sent by Amazon. I was just upset at the fact that I first got a used one. How do I know? Everything came in nearly packaged and unopened. I didn’t realize there was pieces missing from the first light too. I added stars for the issue being corrected but kept one off due to the fact that I paid for a new one and got a used one in the beginning.

It was an excellent price on the stand then I could add the light I preferred. All together it was about half the cost of a similar unit at my home and garden center but I got a better light! It was easy to assemble and works well. It is light weight but I expected that. I'm very pleased.

The 4-foot variant of this stand is a serious disappointment. As noted by at least one other reviewer, each leg consists of three square steel tubes to be mated with a plastic friction T-fitting...yes, PLASTIC, making an already unstable platform unreliable. I went ahead and purchased reasoning that his was perhaps an older design; looking closer at the marketing photo, it was clear that there were no fittings involved and the design appeared to be consistent with the screw-based mating of the 2-foot variant that I had seen in a video review. All of my conclusions were in fact wrong.Never mind that the locking mechanism responsible for suspending your (likely expensive) light assembly of choice is equally of poor quality; or that the lanky leg tubes are 3/4" steel, which is admittedly sufficient IFF properly designed. I'm really disappointed at the fact that the marketing photo which blatantly exploits perspective is a subtly false representation of the product and clearly NOT what was received.If you plan on disassembling this stand after use, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. I doubt this poor design would survive a single disassemble and reassemble, let alone an entire season of reasonable handling. I do not plan on purchasing another Hydrofarm product in the future.* UPDATE 04-Feb-2015:Last week, I decided to look for an alternative solution at a local horticulture store and stumbled upon the 2-foot variant of this stand; after explaining my disappointment with the 4-foot variant, the store owner allowed me to open the box for inspection. Unsurprisingly, it was the same junk design.

Easy to assemble but I needed a mallet to bang the connectors into the frame. Its stable and holds my 4 ft LED light well and the draw string makes it easy to lower or raise up the light. But it's only about 3ft from the ground so not much to raise up

Reasonably sturdy, simple adjustable light height. Bulb still working. Does the job.

Frustrated with Amazon right now. The Jump Start Hydrofarm light comes with a one year warranty that it will be free of defects and that the product will be repaired or replaced but must be first returned to the original place of purchase. I can’t seem to do that. I don’t want a straight refund, Amazon, I want a replacement, ie. Could you come pick this defective one up and exchange it for a new one that (hopefully) works? I have baby plants that need a grow light asap! This was a fairly decent light (I did choose to use my own timer with it as the 12 and 18 hr built-in timer options didn’t work for me). I like the design and size, but the bulb seems to have burned out and I’ve only used it about a 1/2 day shy of a week, following the directions as stated in the packaging. I even removed, cleaned and reinserted the bulb, tried a different wall outlet, etc. I have another JumpStart light from Hydrofarm, I’ve used it for many years without any issues. Amazon, you only give me the option to “replace” with another item of “my choice” yet the choices the page gives me are not my choice…arg…I can’t even phone or have a proper chat with your customer service about this, the algorithm keeps redirecting me to the same useless options that aren’t helping me resolve my issue. Seems like communicating through a bad review is my best option to be heard here.
