Very strong shovel
I love this shovel because of it's strength and not "flexing" when digging like other light weight shovels. This alone makes digging easier and quicker. It's also lightweight to handle (for me). I removed some 10 year old rose bushes that were overgrown with ease. I did have to somewhat pry the deep roots out of the ground (I didn't want to bend my new shovel and ruin it!) and because of the strength in the bracing, this really wasn't an issue. I did you a pry bar in some instances just so I didn't overwork my new shovel. As a seasoned landscaper, I am happy to use this shovel especially when digging large holes for big trees. Overall, it's well built and worth the price.

Sturdy and the lifetime guarantee is a charm!
Used for a cemetery to dig footings, worked perfectly as a shovel should!

Holy cow. Now THIS is a shovel!
There were several different types of shovels that looked very similar to this one as I shopped around, all of which were considerably less expensive than this. But, having just purchased a Fiskars machete and being very pleased with it, I purchased this in the hopes that the quality would exceed that of the wooden shovel I just broke while digging up rocks in my yard. When I unwrapped it. Wow. What a surprise. It was wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap. Yes, they bubble wrapped a shovel! When I unpacked it, I immediately noticed the exceptional build quality of this thing. The steel it's made from is sturdy but not too heavy as to make it hard to use. The really nice rubber grip at the top is a nice addition. Those subterranean rocks don't stand a chance with this thing! I can't wait to get in the yard and use it.If I ever needed to buy another shovel, I'd purchase this one again in a heartbeat. But this thing is so well made, it's unlikely I'll ever have to buy another shovel for as long as I live. I highly recommend this thing!

The best shovel I've ever owned.
There were a few scratches that came with it, but I gotta say, this thing is awesome. It is solid, it is effective, and it is strong in levering up things that other shovels (cough - Kobalt - cough) have almost instantly bent when trying to use. I'm continually impressed with Fiskar. If I need a new garden or yard tool now I always check to see if there is a Fiskar brand available, because they're strong, they're effective and they always serve me well. This is a solid shovel that I happily recommend.

Doesn’t cut roots; too pointed
Over all, this is a strong shovel. However, it has an annoying design flaw. The shovel blade is too pointed to cut roots. Normally, you would balance a shovel’s blade on a thick root, then step on the blade to cut the root, but this shovel’s blade is too pointed to balance it on the root. When you step on the blade, it slides off the root. I plan to remedy the issue by cutting the point off with a grinder, making it more rounded. In fact, I wish I could replicate my old shovel’s blade. It was a double pointed shovel. If you can imagine the top arches of a heart shape, that was the blade’s shape. Loved that shovel, but it rusted after 15 years of regular use.

Best shovel I’ve ever bought.
This shovel is definitely worth the money. It handled everything I threw at it. As long as you don’t try to use it as a crowbar, it won’t let you down.
