One of my favorite expansions
For me, this is a must buy for 4 Against Darkness. It adds a lot of new content to the base game, new classes (which are more outdoors themed heroes such as the Wood Elf and Druid), tons of new spells, new monsters, but the best part of the book are the new character creation options. Now when creating any hero, you can roll on two new tables, a character Trait table and a Milestone table. Both are great for creating backstories, simply take your character trait, the one thing that makes your character unique from all other Rogues/Wizards/Barbarian's ect, and then roll your Milestone (personal quest) and use that as the WHY and ORIGIN as to why you have or can do this unique thing-- I'm the BEST sword-fighting Swashbuckler there is BECAUSE when I was little I was kidnapped by a group of Goblin Pirates and was under the tutelage of the one-legged dread goblin pirate Jack Silver. One day a mutiny broke out and both the captain and I were marooned, before he died however, Captain Jack Silver passed on to me his goblin sword, Tooth-Biter, therefore, Once Per Adventure I may add a +1 to a sword attack, but I am still after the other goblin pirates who took over the Flying Black Sail (milestone, kill 50 goblins to get an extra XP roll). Now because of these simple tables, you are guaranteed to have each of your Clerics, Warriors, Elves feel different and with some imagination have a more Role-Playing types of dungeon delves versus just simply Roll-Playing.If you like these new character options, try out Four Against Mars as they are added there as well but for adventures set in the 1950s sci-fi era.
