Good not great
The bad: 1. The first one they sent me was defective and had to be returned. In looking through the reviews this seems to be a common problem. In their defense, they replaced it no questions asked. 2. I paid extra for this model because it has a battery to store the solar power. My original intent was to use it somewhere where it would get morning sun, but be in the shade in the afternoon. Turns out the battery is pretty useless and I had to find a sunnier location. IT ONLY WORKS WHILE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. 3. The pump is easily clogged and it will shut off completely if the pump is blocked even a little. The good: 1. It works great in direct sunlight if you keep the pump clean. 2. Although an imperfect product, my birds love it and I like the ambience it adds to my garden. 3. I really like that I have a cute, little fountain without needing a power supply.Would I buy this again? Maybe. It’s only been up and operating for about a month. If it lasts through multiple seasons, sure, I’d buy it again. If it only lasts a summer or less, I’d look for something else.

Good spray pressure Pump is unbalanced, Suction cup feet don't hold
The low rating is due to the imbalance of the floating pump. The battery box underneath causes the float to tilt to one side rather than stay flat. This in turn causes the water spray to flow to one side and push the float around until it encounters a side of the basin where it stays. Then it ends up spraying much of the water over the side. There needs to be a counterweight on the bottom of the float to balance out the battery box. There are 3 very small suction cups on the bottom of the pump that are probably there to hold to the bottom of the basin and keep the float in place. However, they are very small and do not hold on the clean plastic surface of the basin. They may hold on smooth clean ceramic or metal. Needs to be one large suction cup. To prevent the float from moving around the basin I had to add a metal bar with a string tied around the pump power wire underneath (photo) to anchor it in place. Under southern CA sun, the pump runs well and once the battery is recharged in the AM, it runs well in full sun. The pump is susceptible to clogging on small leaf bits or bird feather and it needs to be cleared out periodically if there is leaf litter or feathers in the water that will clog the pump intake.

Not worth the money! UPDATE
This is my second fountain, first one returned because it wouldn’t continue to work even if it was in direct sun. The suction cups don’t hold it in place very well but when it works it doesn’t matter if its suctioned down anyway. It seems to me if a bird should stop for water and disturbs the fountain it will stop working. I have to continually go out and check on it , if its not working (which is quite a lot) I have to take it out of water and put it back in several times for it to start working again. I would send it back but I still have not received my refund from my first return. When it does work it looks and sounds nice. I just wish I didn’t have this issue.Customer service reached out to me and quickly replaced my fountain within 2 days. Since it is winter here I cannot test it out. But i will do a better update in the spring. I definately will say they definately have great customer service very prompt.

Bang for the Buck
I bought one a few months ago. I put it in a plastic plant saucer which is 2" deep and 18" wide. I place it ona stack of bricks, filled it with water and that was it. I've had it about 5 months and never had a problem.I live in Arizona and it does freeze here at night. In the morning the pump is frozen in ice, but as soon as the water begin to melt, on goes the pump. It pumps all day and when the sun sets and it is in the shade it keeps pumping, obviously not at full strength, but it keeps pumping. When the pump is submerged ittend to detach from the suction cups , but when the water level goes down the cups will hold in in place. And of course the birds will break it loose too. It is a durable pump, at least that has been my experience with it. I highly recommend it.

Works great with nice options for water flow
I put the solar fountain pump into a shallow birdbath. I had some trouble getting the suctions to stick, as the surface of the fountain is a bit rough, so the disk would float around a bit. After shooting this picture, I late tried putting a few larger stones onto the edge of the disk, and now it stays down, in one place, and keeps pumping as long as there is light! It even works on overcast, on-shore-flow days we get here on the coast. I've tried three attachments and settled on this one, to keep the flow from going over the edge. The birds have been curious, but it is a new feature, so it may take some time! Nice product!

Extremely Durable Despite Repeated Attacks From Neighborhood Vermin
It's easy to dismiss an inexpensive product as a throwaway. And cheap solar seems to have become a commodity. So I didn't really expect much when I bought this little solar fountain thing for my birdbath. But it's proven extremely durable despite at least five significant encounters with some kind of wild critter. We live near a dense woods, and all kinds of things live there. This was most likely attacked by a raccoon or a coyote. There's no way to be sure, but you can see from the teeth marks that this was not a small creature, and this was a series of attacks. The thing just keeps right on going, every time. I have to clean the algae out of it from time to time, but otherwise it's perfectly fine. Vermin or not. It's really been a pleasure to watch as all the animals in the neighborhood sneak into our yard, attracted by the ready fresh, moving water. Why write all this? Because I'd surely be here griefing these guys if their product was junk.

Doesn’t work: update after replacement
I ordered this back in October with the intention of using it before now. I wished I’d looked closely at it then and given it a try. I would have returned it ASAP! No on off switch and a one page instructions that don’t say much. It has been out charging for two days and only ran twice for less than 30 seconds after messing with it. It appears to have an electrical connection problem. Do not purchase!I emailed the company and they sent a replacement out immediately. The replacement is working well. Customer service was great! They stand behind product 100%
